I WILL NOT sit in the kitchen and talk to you while you eat your chicken.
You didn't eat when I put it there, so you are on your own.
Sherrill will not be back until Wednesday night, so you will just have to starve!
Dumb dog!

School teachers
Remember when school teachers looked like this? Always had on the red lipstick, and the finger pointing at someone. Boy have times changed. The youngest teacher I ever had was probably 40 years old, and a male. I always seemed to have old ladies, a lot of old ladies. As a matter of fact, I thought ALL teachers were Old Ladies.
Look at the schools today. It seems as though most of the teachers are in their mid to late 20's to early 30's. I guess as time goes by the meaner the students get, and they just kill off all the old women.
Think about it. How old is your child's teacher?
And another question, out of your 12 years of school, can you name at least 10 of your teachers?

Road Trip
Sherrill and I took a road trip this morning to Fayetteville. Do you know what's there....YEP, the quilt shop! He didn't go hang out at the military museum this time. Instead he walked down the road to an antique store. Then when he got back he went downstairs to watch TV. The ladies there have gotten use to him sitting back in the big arm chair with the remote in his hand.
I was checking out, and they asked me if I had bought a bag for this year. There are 2 "Bag Days" a month. You buy a $15.00 canvas bag (money goes to charity) and for 1 year, twice a month, they have bag days where everything that fits in your bag is 20% off. The bag is "good" for 1 year. Well, I got my bag, and went back shopping. I filled 'er up!
Sherrill will be leaving Monday to go back out of town, so I will be setting up the sewing machine and going to work! I can't wait.

Sherrill and the Hotel
I called Sherrill last night to see how things were going there. He was a little distraught. After a 10 hour day at work he returns to his room, only to find the key card doesn't work. He goes to the office, they rekey it and he returns. When he opens the door he finds that the room is covered with some one else's items. He returned to the desk to see what was going on, they check, and tell him they gave his room to someone else.
Sherrill decided he was going to PACK up all of his items, and carry them with him, even his toothbrush. The maids thought he had left for good, so they gave his room to someone else.
Now for the rest of the story........Sunday night after he packed his clothes and went to bed, I wrote notes and put in his pockets. A pair of jeans were on top, and I slipped a hundred dollar bill in it along with the note. I know Tuesday morning he didn't want to take time to go through all of the pockets, so he just carried everything with him. There was NO WAY he was going to let someone else find any money in his pockets. So, last night Sherrill ended up in the handicapped room. Of all the people staying in the hotel, I'm sure someone would want to steal "His" belongings.
He should be home soon, then goes back out of town tomorrow morning.

Jack is still sad
Jack dog really misses Sherrill. He hasn't "pooped" since Sherrill has been gone. Sherrill walks him around the block, and I walk to the culdesac and walk him around it. My philosophy is if you have to go, you have to go. You don't need to walk a mile to "get it done".
Yesterday morning I was awakened at 6:48 with the whimpering of a dog. I had to get up and take him out for his morning "pee". I came back inside and crawled back in bed. Later on I got up and cooked his bacon. He refused to eat it all day. I guess he didn't like the cook. Last night I put out his food, and he refused to eat most of it. He sits at the door and whimpers. We are in and out all day long. I have walked around the back yard so much, I know where every ant hill is!
I went in the bedroom this morning, only to find where Jack had thrown up. Yesterday he had been chewing the grass where other dogs had peed. Serves him right, but I was the one to clean up his mess.
And.....do you know what else I found.....a pupperoni under his bed (Jack's bed). Tonight when I talked to Sherill he told me he had given him one Sunday. So, Jack is just hiding it out until he wants a bedtime snack.
Sherrill misses the dog, and the dog misses Sherrill. Sherrill had to talk to him on speaker phone last night. Jack looked all around, didn't see him, then started growling and ready to attack ME! Dumb dog.
Sherrill will be back tonight for bonding time with Jack, thank goodness. They both need some attention.
I really don't HATE Jack all that much, he is just major annoying. He requires too much attention and is high maintenance. The next time someone wants to give a dog away, give it to Kat.
Love you Jack dog! (yeah, right)

First Impressions
Yesterday I was sitting in Walgreen's watching the people go by. An older black lady (mid 70's) stopped by the area, looked at me and politely siad' "Is this where we wait for our prescription refills"? I told her yes, and she replied,"I didn't know for sure, and I didn't want to invade on anyone's privacy". I just nodded and smiled. I quickly realized this lady is NOT from around here. How I came to that conclusion was the way she was dressed. She was wearing a brown twill suit with black high heeled boots, black purse, and a tan beret.
Everyone knows that the weather here has been up in the 80's and everyone has put their suits away. Next arrives her husband,"Excuse me "Mam, may I sit here". He is dressed in blue jeans with sharp creases in the legs. Looks they must have come right out of the cleaners, a dress shirt, leather coat and matching shoes. All I can think of is "they must be from up north". In the mean time I am sitting there in flip flops.
Then I stopped to think..... When was the last time you ironed your spouses jeans, and put creases in them? And, when was the last time you wore a suit with matching boots, bag, and hat?
The pharmacist finally called her name, "Mrs Atkinson". Yes, she looked like she could be a Mrs Atkinson, someone to be noticed, some one that made a good impression, especially on me!

It's a Dog's Life.....
I woke up this morning, ate breakfast, straightened up the house, and went outside to cut grass. I came back inside, and started on paperwork. I realized it was about time to walk Jack. I was walking around the house calling him. I went back to the living room, and there he was.....
Notice the tongue!
Yes, it is a dog's life!

The Dog
Sherrill never made it to the dog house. He was surprised to see the cheese on the floor. Jack did it all by himself. Dumb dog!
The floors are still beautiful. Not a grain of sand on them. The dust mop is doing its job. I just can't figure out where all the dust comes from (even thought I am married to a painter that sands). My living room is staying spotless, except for the area around my chair.....baskets, magazines, tissues, glass of water or diet pepsi....etc. Now if I could only say the same thing for my kitchen!
Today is church day, so I had to start dinner early. Chili in the crockpot. Sherrill will be surprised. Usually on Thursdays I bring him in chicken wings. Not today, I'm saving my few dollars.
Sherrill will be leaving Monday to work out of town. He will be gone Mon, Tue, will be back Wed night, then gone again Thursday. Gotta pack that suitcase. He will be in heaven though. There's a Golden Corral right down the road from his work. He LOVES that place. Jack will miss him.
No more news for right now. I have a few pictures in the camera I'll post tomorrow.

Dog troubles
Sherrill is headed towards the dog house!
I was cleaning up his room, with the NEW FLOOR, and what do I see......shredded cheese.
Now, I broke down and allowed Jack a water bowl in the bedroom. His water bowl sits on a plate, and the plate sits on a vinyl placemat. So, if he sloshes or drips water on the plate, or the placemat, no damage is done. But shredded cheese on the floor? Now, Jack could have done this himself. He loves to hide his food, and I do feed him popcorn with cheese on it (in his bowl in the kitchen). He probably carried it off to bed for a late night snack. I left two little pieces of cheese on the floor for evidence.
What next......a chicken leg? He already has pork chop bones scattered all over the patio. That is one spoiled dog!

Thanks Abby......
Thanks Abby for helping me get the house back in order.
We got out a lot of dust and dirt, but then the smoke came.
I was cooking pork chops, and had the oil heating on the stove, and a fire started under the burner. I was trying to put the fire out while I was talking to my mom on the phone. The smoke detector was doing its job making noise. It just beeped FOREVER! Then the door bell rang. My grease is still on the stove, the detector is beeping, and I am off to answer the door. Carter softly asks, "Grandma, are you OK?" Yep, but I have a fire. I go to the back of the house to get a fan to blow on the smoke detector to stop it. Back to the kitchen to check on my grease, all the while trying to explain to Carter where the fire was and why the smoke detector makes so much noise. After switching frying pans, and burners, I get those pork chops in the pan. I don't know what was under that burner. That's the one Sherrill uses for his bacon, and we can't do without our bacon. Looks like I will be scrubbing a stove tomorrow.
The pork chops turned out nicely thank you!

Oh Happy Day........
The furniture is back in place. There are still boxes and baskets to unpack, and more cleaning to do, but at least now the house is livable. I was vacuuming my room at 9:30 last night trying to get rid of some more of those dust bunnies. Things really look different!
What happened to pictures of the kids in their Easter finest? Tristen, did you get a new dress?
Gotta go. Time to go finish up lunch.

This is what the floors look like. I put the old rug on the floor for now to protect it while we are still moving furniture. The dining room table is pushed close to the wall, because I think I am going to put my desk in there. I want to be able to look out the sliding glass doors. Yes, there is already laundry on the table! Had to put it somewhere. Sherrill just has part of his room done so far.
There is still work to be done, but I'm tired, and taking a day to rest!

Bad to the Bone......
Nope, I HURT to the bone!
The floor men finished today. Yayyyyy! The living room is put together, well kinda sorta. Sherrill's mattress is in the middle of the floor with him and Jack sleeping comfortably. He refused to sleep in my bed, (because I don't allow Jack in my room) and said he would NEVER sleep in Mandy's bed (because she slept in it). The hutch and big desk are still in the foyer. Sherrill's desk and night stand are still in my room, along with the computer and printer. His bed frame is in the garage, and his dresser is in Mandy's room. We have piles of furniture everywhere. Almost ALL of the sawdust is gone. I finally was able to wash clothes, and Mandy cooked dinner. We were able to sit back and watch tv tonight and breathe a sigh of relief.
Sherrill did some quick calculations, and for what it cost for the flooring and having it put down, we could have PAID for a trip to Branson! He is still opposed to a vacation for this year. He is more in favor of the every other year. I guess he doesn't want to stress out Jack.
I'm off to bed, and told Meghan not to wake me up until The Young and the Restless comes on. They usually let me sleep in until 8 or so, but this week I have been up early every morning. I am ready for a sleep-in.
Good night everyone, and for you west coasters, send Aunt Astrid a note. Her birthday is today.

Day two.....
Day two of floor installation, and oh what a mess! They are cutting the wood on the patio, but have to cut around every door. And remember those little pickets that divide the living room and dining room, they have to take each one off, cut it down, so the flooring will slide right under it. OH WHAT A MESS!
Sawdust is everywhere, and added to that two children running through it all. Today they are finishing up the living room, and plan to finish the dining room and halls. That means no walking on them for 24 hours! I'm glad I have a door and bathroom in my room so we can escape through it!
Mandy helped Sherrill move furniture at 6:00AM then Abby came over about 8:30 to help move some more. The workers are here, so let the fun begin!

No taxes for today
I knew then it was time to get busy. Off to the mower I went. Now, the last time I got on the mower the belt broke (well actually jumped off). I blamed it on my weight, so all last summer I only cut grass once. Then I realized, a lot of fat ugly men cut grass, so I can too.
Mr Sherrill parked the mower last, and put it so close to the side of the shelter my leg wouldn't even fit through. There was plenty of room on the other side, but that is where the deck and blower thing is. So, I had to drag the mower from under the shelter. After all of that work, I was ready for a break. But before I could even sit on the seat, I had to dust the whole thing off. I didn't want all that pollen and dust getting on me. After the cleaning and wiping, the bright red was shinning through, and I was ready to ride.
I had even brought Jack outside to witness this grand adventure. I zoomed right on through back yard first, then the front yard. Believe me, I got a lot of smiles and waves from the neighbors and passerbys.
After all the grass cutting I pulled out the bottles of weed and feed. I am going to kill every last one of those suckers if it kills me. One problem though, the neighbor next door has his garden right next to my fence. I sprayed real fast, hoping to get it done before anyone came home. But as I finished, I noticed a car in the yard. Sure hope I didn't do any damage to their spring onions and what ever else was planted.
So now my lawn is cut (Sherrill just needs to weed eat), and the spray is down (except for an area I couldn't reach). As I was washing myself off, and heading inside, a truck is pulling up slowly.
Wouldn't you know, it's James' yard man! Now why couldn't he have shown up a couple of hours ago??
Anyway, the yard is almost done, and I was able to complete the task without destroying any person or property. Now it's time for a good scrubbing!
Who Knew
Well I am reading a new book. Who knew a book about trolls would be so good! Its a great book, I can't put it down. If anyone wants to read, its a Trylle novel and the first book is switched. Its by Amanda Hocking. The second book is Torn and the third is Ascend. Well thats all bye(: -Tristen
It's that time again........
Tax time that is!
Laundry is done, kitchen cleaned, and cake baking in the oven. Now it's time to get down to the REAL business, taxes. I hate it, i hate it, I hate it! Kathy tells us every year she will do our taxes, and every year Sherrill says NO.
It's simple enough entering all the data into Quicken. And Sherrill has figured out along the way to pay EVERYTHING by check, just to leave a good paper trail. My problem is that as I enter the info into
Turbo Tax up at the top it tells you exactly how much you owe at that point.
Every year as soon as I add in all the income from the 1099's the total at the top is astronomical. Then I add in the expenses, and it goes down quite a bit. Then I add in the rental info, and back up it goes. Then there are more expenses with that. The up and down of the "Total taxes owed" is like a nightmare. And then you have to explain to Sherrill why Jack's vet bills can't go under medical.
Sherrill always picks out a number in his head how much he THINKS he owes, then I have to come up with receipts to match that. I'm telling you, it's stressful. That's why I always wait to the last minute to get this job done. Anyone want to help? Added to that, we have to move all the furniture out this weekend
to get ready for the floor man. I don't know where I am going to set up the Mac.
Another day another dollar, or a few thousands!

Catherine visits the farm!
Catherine had her first school field trip today. Christy said she was a little apprehensive about riding the bus. She has never ridden a school bus before. I talked with her tonight, and she was just a little "chatty cathy". She told about her bus ride, and all the animals she saw.
Luke got on the phone and told me he likes school on the days he doesn't have to do anything. And he likes riding the bus when he gets to sit by himself.
Two entirely different school reports. So, what did your child do today?
And......where's Kelli?
