Girl Dog

For those of you who may not know, Girl Dog died December 13th. Sherrill didn't want to tell anyone. He was quite upset. She got up that morning and was throwing up blood (too much info). He carried her to the vet, and he thought at first that she had been hit by a car. Sherrill told him no way that she stays in the patio area. Then he checked and realized she had a tumor in her lungs. She had lost so much blood that he said she would die within 24 hours. He went ahead and put her to sleep. Jack really misses her, and still goes out looking and sniffing for her. Mandy and I bleached out the patio, moved her house and heated bed, and everything before Sherrill got home that day. It was really sad around here for a few days.

All is well now, and I am glad I had taken this picture just a month or two ago.

Happy Birthday Christy Leigh!

Who said you can't go sledding at moms??

As most of you know, I got sick Christmas morning thanks to everyone in the house being sick all week.  So I made it for the kids opening their gifts and then went to bed until Christmas evening when I had to get back up to open presents with the McKeel and Long kids.  Dan took the kids out Monday to get the snow sleds that we had and this is what they did in the front yard.  The kids LOVED oging sledding at Lake Tahoe and had lots of fun in the front yard.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a safe and great New Years weekend.

Grandma's 1st Annual Pajama Party

Grandma's 1st Annual Pajama Party

No....this is not a picture of the PJ party. This is a picture Dan took during the snow. We only got 10 inches! We took down the outside decorations except the deer before the snow started.

Now, back to the party. Everyone is having a great time. Isabella is hanging in there with the big kids. I line them up, point to them, and make them shout out their ages........Here they go...2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 6, 9. I mix them all up and point to different ones, and they will shout out someone else's age by mistake. It was hilarious. Then they just HAD to learn how to pitch pennies for the line. Well, we used nickels, and they pitched to a square in the rug. The winner got to pitch first the next game. We have some potential gamblers in the group! Dinner was a simple hot dog and chips..... except of course for Cameron. He had put in a special request for ham and macaroni and cheese. Two servings of mac and cheese (he is of course Kelli's little brother)! We had our arts and crafts, watched a little TV, put our PJ's on and then went for our bedtime milk and cookies. Some chose Pop tarts instead of cookies though. Cameron looked up and said, "Grandma, are we going to do this every night"? " Sure we are", I told him.

The kids are really bonding with each other. Olivia looks up to Seth to help her turn lights on and off. Cameron is a little "father hen" with Isabella. He goes and gets her whatever she asks for. He makes sure I serve her first, and she gets what she wants first. Meghan and Lauren are still struggling to see who is the "Queen Bee", and poor Seth is still trying to figure out where he fits in. One minute he might be playing video games with Cameron, then Cameron leaves him to go play with the "little kids". Carter just does his own thing. He's so easy going, everyone will play with him. Carter and Cameron are good with building the castles and playing with the heavy trucks and tractors. Lauren has spent alot of time sitting on my lap. She seems to be just a little shy with all this excitement, and this is not the way she usually is. Meghan is still trying to let me know that she is the boss. She has just settled down now, and is actually being really quiet. As for Sherrill and Jack, they are just sitting back watching everyone. Sherrill takes charge of Izzy when I am working with the others.

There have only been two crying episodes. One sister hit her brother, and the brother cried. Sister got placed in Grandma's chair, then sister cried. I'm not mentioning any names though. It was all over with in two minutes or less.

Believe it or not, NO ONE has asked to go home. Not even Isabella. Everyone is happy and excited. All of you mom and dads would be very happy with your little ones. So, you can go to bed now, and get some rest. Just know that your little ones are partying madly with Grandma and Papa!

And by the way......... tonight Grandma gets all the kisses!

Christmas Day with the McKeel's

These pictures were taken over a two day period. The kids were in and out, so I just walked around with camera in hand. I love taking pictures of my babies!

Christmas with the Longs

Christmas with Seth and Meghan took FOREVER. These kids open one present at a time, in SLOW MOTION. I asked what happened to the way kids use to open presents when you fought your way under the tree looking for something with YOUR name on it. That I guess is not politically correct. Now you sit and wait your turn, as gifts are hand delivered, and photos taken. Smile ! ! !

Mandy was sick, and as soon as presents were opened, she went to bed. Poor little Mandy. She did go to work last night for a few hours though.

Christmas with the McEwans

Let me tell you about these pictures. Christy hooked up her camera ball to her laptop, signed up to skype, and called us Christmas morning. We were able to see the kids open their presents. I sat back with a video camera in one hand and a camera in the other snapping pictures. On the bottom of the last picture you can see the little icons on the bottom of my Mac.
Also on the bottom of each picture is the picture in a picture of my Christmas tree. Neat isn't it?

Christmas Eve

Wendy, Randy, and the kids came over Friday afternoon. We were so happy to see them. Thank you so much for the food, gifts, and and the joy of your presence. It was really nice having everyone together. Remember kids........ pajama party as soon as the snow goes away!

Happy Birthday James!

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to YOU
Happy Birthday Dear James
Happy Birthday to YOU!

I TRIED to upload pictures from my laptop, but the computer said they are in the wrong format. They were pictures I had scanned. That didn't work. So, I tried emailing them to the Mac, still no luck. So the only thing left to do was steal another picture. There is nothing better than the chicken man ! Love you Chicken Man!

Happy Birthday Kat!

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Kat
Happy Birthday to you.

You have accomplished alot in your mere 34 years. Today you turn 35. There are alot of new adventures out there for you. Instead of filling the page with pictures of you, I decided to include the other side of you, wife, mother, and extra special person.

We love you, and wouldn't trade you for anything! Hope you have a Happy Happy day!

It's about that time........

It's about that time again.......time to start the baking. The only problem, I don't have all my supplies. Mandy and Sherrill have been doing the grocery shopping. They don't stock up on chocolate chips, coconut, and all the GOOD stuff. So, I'll be making my list and checking it twice. Hopefully someone will take pity on me and do the grocery store run.

About this time of year my body starts craving sausage and cheese balls. I only make them once a year. This year I think I'll share with Uncle Rudy.

Mandy has already made about 3 or 4 batches of fudge. Plus she made the cake pops, and also her no bake choc oatmeal cookies. (She calls them do do balls) I have got to get busy to catch up with her. If you look for me tomorrow and Friday, I'll probably be in the kitchen! Bah humbug!

We are all still coughing and hacking. Then last night I see where whooping cough has made it's return in NC. What gives?

Cindy, we are going to make your Oreo truffles. I'll let you know how they turn out!

Bye for now. Time to clean and scrub that kitchen before the baking begins!

Get your Computers ready!

OK folks, for those of you who choose to participate we are having a FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY........skype style.

Go to skype.com and sign up for the FREE video messaging. It works the same as Yahoo messenger for those of you who have used that. You will need a camera eye, or a built in camera, and microphone. It took Kat and I about 10 minutes to set up out accounts.

On Christmas Day, we can all log in and see everyone. Just beware, don't sit too close to your camera, or you will look like a blown up bull frog. When you first see yourself, it WILL be quite a shock. We should be able to get at least 5 or 6 people in the group conferencing with no problems. The one to one stuff is FREE, but the group stuff is free for only 28 days. It is just now in it's beta testing, so I'm sure there will be a few Bugs!

See if you can get "Hooked up".

Try it.......you'll like it! It even allowed me to watch a video Kat was showing on her Computer!

Melton....

Melton the warm hearted snowman staring Seth Long as Melton.  :)

The 3rd and 4th graders at Seths school had a Christmas program tonight and Seth had the lead role.  He did a GREAT job and was so happy.  :)  I'll work on  downloading the video this weekend.

James had to make one also.

Kenneth's Christmas Program

As you can see, Kenneth had his Christmas program. He did a great job. Kurt even got to make it this year, and Jacob sat in Kurt's lap through it. Without running off or pulling his sister hair.

Bronchitis

This is what my lungs look like! Bronchitis! Back on antibiotics, prednisone, breathing treatments, the works. Poor Me. No, actually Poor ones that have to LIVE with me. This prednisone turns me even "witchier" if that is possible. So..... Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to bed I go.
In the meantime, it's up to the rest of you to keep this thing going.

Oh, Seth has his school play tomorrow. Hope Mandy gets it videoed. Good luck to "Melton the Snowman"......break a leg. It might not be appropriate to say that when we are expecting ice and snow.
