Christy has a job working part time at her kids school, grades 1-8. Their rules are if you don't have a teaching degree, you have to take the Praxis test, and pass it. Christy took the test, and passed it.......
making HER our Student of the Day!
In case you are not aware, the Praxis is a teacher certification exam.

Jack
Sherrill left Tuesday to go out of town to work. It was just me and the dog!
He refused to eat supper, he refused to eat his bacon Wednesday morning.
Sherrill comes home Wed night......Jack eats his chicken, Thurs morning he eats his bacon....Sherrill leaves again to go out of town. Thursday night, Jack refuses to eat his chicken, and I am sure he will
refuse to eat his bacon tomorrow morning.
I wish Sherrill would just take the dumb dog with him! I am tired of cooking for a dog.
Wouldn't you just LOVE to have a visitor....... Jack is ALWAYS available.
I told Sherrill Mandy came to town and we went out. His first comment was .......did she take Jack out
to walk? He's more concerned about Jack than Mandy.

Valentine's Day Surprises
Every year at Valentine's Day I get a box of Turtles. It has been the same FOREVER. This year however was a little different. Saturday morning Sherrill went to run errands, and came back with
SIX boxes of Girl Scout cookies.....Lemonade. If you haven't tried them, you don't know what you are missing out on!
Then Sunday he went to Sam's Club, and came back with a 2 1/2 to 3 pound container of mixed nuts.
He knows I like them.
Then to pay him back, I had to cook chicken pastry, sweet potatoes, chicken salad......and so on.
We are not the ones for flowers and cards.... we want the REAL deal!
Hope all your spouses remembered you, but most of all I hope you remembered your little and BIG
kids!

My Kid is smarter than your kid.......for this week anyway!
I just got a call from Christy. She had received an email from Kenny's "Virtual Home School" inviting him to join the National Honor Society. He has to have at least a 3.5 GPA. This is the home school where you actually SEE the teacher, and she can see you.
Way to go Kenny!

Practice makes Perfect
I came across this today.
I sure am glad my doc practiced on a gorilla before he got hold of me!

Triangle OBGYN Medical Team Performs Follow-up Cancer Surgery on Gorilla
September 10, 2008; Cary, NC – A team of medical professionals from Triangle OBGYN and Duke University Medical Center successfully performed a difficult and intricate surgery August 27, 2008 on “Donna,” a 39 year old, female Western Lowland Gorilla who lives at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, NC.
Senior Veterinarian Ryan De Voe, DVM at the North Carolina Zoological Park contacted Sameh Toma, M.D. and Gerald Mulvaney, M.D. at Triangle OBGYN to assist his staff in doing a
total hysterectomy on Donna. This procedure was
a follow-up to surgery that Drs. Toma and Mulvaney
performed in November 2007 which resulted in a
diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Because of the
nature of Donna’s cancer, the team from Triangle
OBGYN brought in Dr. Fidel Vilea, a
Gynecologist/Oncologist, from Duke University
Medical Center to consult on the surgery and
insure that all malignancies would be removed.

As of today, the 400 pound gorilla is nearly back to normal. “Donna is doing great. She recovered from anesthesia very quickly
and began taking oral fluids and some fruit the morning after surgery,” says Ryan DeVoe, Senior Veterinarian at the NC Zoological
Park. “When I went to visit her I honestly couldn’t tell anything had happened to her. She is one tough monkey.”

Zoos around the world utilize the services of (human) medical doctors when dealing with great ape cases. The NC Zoo reached
out to Drs. Toma and Mulvaney at Triangle OBGYN for help since gorilla reproductive anatomy, physiology and pathology is
so similar to that of humans.

“For years, we have benefited from animal experimentation. Now we have had the opportunity to give back. Our vast experience
and deep fund of knowledge in human medicine has allowed us to provide assistance to our veterinary colleagues in difficult
surgical cases in which they are less experienced due to the rarity of this type of procedure in animals,” says Gerald Mulvaney, MD
at Triangle OBGYN. “The anatomy of the female gorilla is close enough to the human anatomy, that it allows us to use our skills
that have been refined over years because of large volumes of human surgeries similar to this one. This has provided a cooperative
relationship between human and veterinary medicine that we encourage and hope to continue in the future.”

“The zoo is buzzing with news of Donna’s successful procedure and the great medical team that was here to pull it off. You guys
have no idea how thankful we are for your help,” remarked Dr. DeVoe from the North Carolina Zoological Park.

First Snow Day in 61 YEARS

Christy's kids are out of school today......... first SNOW DAY in 61 years for this area.
Christy had to go "dig out" her little pigs. The cows and horses are in the barn. The pigs have a shelter, but can't get to the food and water. The dogs...well, they are dogs, they can always climb on top the dog house. And the cat...... I am sure she is on the back porch somewhere.
The snow is up to Christy's knees, with drifts almost to her hips.
Can't wait to see what Reno has!
Oh...... here it is
This was taken along the highway from Truckee, CA to Reno.
Truckee is where Kat's favorite thrift store is. It's a small town between Reno and Lake Tahoe.
