It just might be a pajama day today.
Jack is sick. Sherrill had to come home early from work yesterday to take him to the vet. He spent 3 hours there getting IV's. They don't know what's wrong with him. His white blood count is way up, he's in pain, and just cries and cries. They gave him a shot and some meds, one of which seems to relieve the pain. He will walk around in circles like he is disoriented. Poor dog, I don't know who's more stressed out, him or Sherrill. He's kinda doing like girl dog was before she died.
James, Gary Corbett and Fred came by last night. They wanted to go to your house about 7:45, but I told them Izzy had just come home from the hospital, and you might not be ready for company. We suggested that if they went over, to ASK if it was a good time.
School Years 2009 until.......whenever. Lots of kids, AND grandkids AND lots of surprises!

Murray Kids
Cameron and Olivia came for a visit Saturday and Sunday. While they were here, they discovered the marvels of Photo Booth on the iMac. They took some really crazy pictures of themselves. These three are about the only normal ones they did.
I took plenty of pictures with my camera, but I can't find my camera cord. I don't think I have had it since the beach trip. Oops. I need to keep on looking for it!
Hurry back kid-o's. We miss you. Jack really misses you, and Tinker bell.

A Visit to see Grandma Jeanne
The other week when Kat was here after dinner we went to see Grandma Jeanne.
Just so you kids always remember, she is in Oliver Cemetery in Pine Level, NC. Mandy was the last one to leave the sunflowers and flag there.
Grandma Jeanne is buried with her son that was killed in Vietnam, her mom, and dad. Pop is buried in Beautancus across from the Holiness Church, with his mom and dad.

More photos
The last time Lauren and Carter came over they decided to help make pillows. They went through grandma's "stash" and selected their own fabric. As you can see, Lauren did the cutting herself. Carter helped by stuffing his.
I remember the first pillow I made for Nate he carried around for a couple of years. Tristen, does he still have it?

What's for Dinner?
Today I decided it was cool enough outside to turn on the oven, so I wanted to bake a ham. While I was at Walmart I was checking them out, and they were over $3.50 a pound. Then I saw one in a white and orange wrapper. It was a Smithfield orange zest spiral sliced ham. It was only $2.00 a pound, so I knew I had to give it a try. I brought that baby home, threw it in the oven, and had it ready in no time. Add to that some succotash (with a jar of medium salsa instead of tomatoes) and boiled potatoes, and dinner was ready. Sorry Sherrill, no biscuits. I wish I could make good cornbread.
It was GREAT! It was like putting orange marmalade on top of a hot ham. The orange sauce had some cinnamon in it, and orange zest. I was amazed. Sherrill really liked it too. It's a nice change for a summer meal. I would have never dreamed of an orange glaze on pork, but hey, I like the apples they put on pork chops at Logans.

On the Road Again.........
Yep, they are on the road again. This time leaving Dallas and headed to Las Vegas to visit friends there. I don't think Eli was expecting this much of a "road trip". Sto is just going with it. As long as he has electronic devices, he's fine. Isaac has made his way thought one tv, and had to get another. At any given time he has something plugged in........ yes, Kat really does have an electrical outlet under her van seat! 16 hours and counting to Vegas! Oh, and after Vegas....... to Utah to Christy's house to pick up Katie!
Treasure trove of info and pictures

| Hilery Glenn Hobbs on right with mother Alice Jordan Hobbs, brothers Frank and Lloyd Leroy. |
While I was at mom and dad's last week, dad told me he found an old box with pictures and stuff. He brought inside, and boy was I excited.
Grandma Lessie Evans had a sister Hilda, that married Glenn Hobbs. So, as dad always called them, Aunt Hilda and Uncle Glenn. Well, when Uncle Glenn died, I bought my first car, his car, a Buick Skylark.
The information in the box was old pictures of the Jordan family, his mom's family. So, now I am busy researching this family to see if I can figure out who is in all of these pictures.
I also went to see Uncle Hallett. He said the Hobbs family were one of the first in that area to farm using a tractor.

Conversation with Eli
Sitting here this afternoon Eli asked one of his thought provoking questions. This is how the conversation went.........
Eli: Grandma, what happens after a happy ending, (happily ever after)? You know how the Disney princesses were a little bit before our time. So, I'll bet the Little Mermaid died because of BP's oil spill, Belle probably got arrested for kissing a wild beast, Jasmine's husband Aladdin is in custody because of the incident after 9/11, and Pocahontas learned how to kill when the Europeans came with guns and diseases.
Grandma: So how about Snow White and Cinderella? Cinderella must have made it home on time thanks to daylight savings time.
Eli: I don't know what happened to the rest......those are just the books have read.
Eli comes up with the strangest thought provoking questions, it is unbelievable!
Unplanned vacation
Yes, we came to the beach. We started looking around on the internet on Friday, and found the cottage above with all of the windows (the yellow one). It was available at off season rates, so we called, and reserved it (we finally got approval at 3:00 PM on Friday, and left Saturday. This was just a last minute deal.

Christmas at the McKeel House
Mandy told us that Target was going to clearance out all of Paula Deen's cookware. So, Sherrill put in his order for a set. Mandy called today to say she was able to get him one. He will be so HAPPY! He just LOVES his Paula Deen frying pan. I still like my cast iron ones. Party tonight at the McKeel House! I wonder if I can talk him into cooking.
