Aunt Debbie and the Squirrel

This is how the story goes. I was talking to my brother Larry a couple of weeks ago and he was telling me he went to my sister Debbie's house. He said a couple of raccoons were in front of her house peeping in the windows. He "Shooed" them away and went inside, only to find a squirrel sitting at the kitchen table eating grapes, nuts, etc. He thought this was a little strange. After the squirrel ate his dinner, he went behind the microwave, climbed in bed and went to sleep.

Seems as though my sister has taken in a baby squirrel, raised him, and takes good care of him. She lets him outside each morning when she goes to work, and calls him upon her arrival home. He comes, eats his dinner, and goes to bed. Now this is the same sister that has raised baby or injured dogs, cats, birds, squirrels, and yes, even a deer in her house, without cages!

Ya gotta love Aunt Debbie!

Seth's report at school

So I took this off of Seths fb page.

No, he isn't cross dressing... He has to give a book report in front of the class tomorrow at school. Part of the presentation is having to dress as the main character of the book. So this is Seth as Junie B. Jones!!

Branson Weather

I keep checking the weather for Branson.  They are still calling for highs 55/59 lows 32/34.
Be sure to bring some warm clothes. I'm making my grocery list already. I am getting most of the basics here. I'll get the dairy and meats there at Wallyworld. I am also carrying my own towels and quilts just to be safe!

Oh, Birthday Party for Grandaddy Joe Nov 12th at his house. Everyone's invited!

Is this YOUR KIN?

EARL ESKIN NIXON
This is the fool that broke into the Croom Drive house Tuesday. Roger was home and caught him. He did get his Wii though. Rog was able to get a picture of him with his cell phone.
It was in the paper tonight where he broke into another home in Dudley Wednesday. He got away, but as the police were taking the report they spotted him, and captured him.

Guess I'll have to go to jail to get the money from him for the door we had to replace! He needs a little Whoopin' up on too! Where are my "Whopper Uppers"?

Oh no, it's dark outside.
Where's the sun?
I can't believe I am up before dawn!
Jack is still in bed. Sherrill is getting ready to leave for work, and I am wide awake.
Guess there are alot of things awaiting me for today.
Have a good day everyone!

Mmm Mmmm Good!

Looks good!
Baked Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes
came from here http://cravingchronicles.com/2010/10/11/baked-pumpkin-spice-donut-holes/

Makes 20-24 mini muffins
Don’t worry – you don’t actually use the whole stick of butter for the coating, it just makes it easier to dip the muffins. If you’re looking for a somewhat lighter treat, skip the coating – the muffins are moist and pumpkin packed all on their own. These are best dipped and coated the same day you are going to eat them, otherwise the coating tends to get soggy.

Ingredients

For Donuts
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoons ground cloves
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup canned plain pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)
1/2 cup low-fat milk
For Coating
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven 350°F. Spray each cup in a 24-cup mini muffin tin with baking spray or butter generously.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and spices (through cloves). In a separate, large bowl whisk together oil, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, pumpkin and milk until smooth. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined – do not over mix!
Divide batter evenly among muffin cups. (Using a 2-tablespoon scoop will ensure uniform size.) Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
While the muffins bake, melt butter in one bowl and combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in another bowl. Remove muffins from oven and cool for 2 minutes, or until just cool enough to handle. Dip each muffin in melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar to coat.

The Little Boy 1855

I think I want to go visit this little boy.

Pink Eye?

What is this.......the month for pink eye?
First Christy reports that Rio has pink eye, and now Kelli reports in that Blake has it too.
What's going on with this? Wonder if the treatment is the same.
Everyone wore a mask with the SARS outbreak. Wonder if we should wear blinders for the pink eye epedemic? I think some of us might just be wearing our blinders already.

Hey Everyone,
ok so Blake and I are planning to come with Cindy when she comes down to Branson. I am nervous with making Blake take that long of a drive. Any suggestions to keep a baby happy? Other then that, all is well around here. You can see that Tristen has been up to date with the Blegens, and we always hang out. Work, School, and Blake are well.

Kelli

Seth and Meghan

Dan got the kids for the weekend and carried them to his place. We find out yesterday he's not going to bring them back.

Chris

I received a phone call from Chris last night around 10:00. I thought that was a little strange, because I had already talked with him earlier. Here's how the conversation went.
Sto: "Grandma, Will you call my mom and tell her to come get me. My car won't start".
Me:   "Why don't you call her?"
Sto    "I tried. She won't answer her cell phone."
Me  "Call her on the home phone. She will answer."
Sto   "I don't know the number"!!!!!

That's my Sto. Now, a couple of months ago I called and asked him for his address. He didn't know it. He had to find some mail to tell me what is address was. I specifically told him he had to learn his address, AND phone number. I guess the boy has too much other stuff to keep his brain busy.
Love you Chris!

Next Project on the Horizon!

Have you ever heard of this? Photoshop Elements.

It's a software I learned about in my last class. It teaches you how to do all kinds of crazy things with photos, old and new. Even videos. I ordered the software a few days ago. Version 10 just came out in September. I found a class for versions 8 and 9, but I will have 10. I still think I will take the class.
I have thousands of photos I need to get in order. I think this will be a great project for those long cold days that will be here too soon! I will be able to do all kinds of creative things.
It's fun being an old lady with plenty of time on her hands. I could stay in school FOREVER.

39 Days 'til Branson ! ! !

Kat called today and we discussed the Branson trip. Sherrill said everyone will be mad at him by then, so it will be just the two of us!

Kat has just about finished with the sleeping arrangements. Next we will tackle the food. We are thinking about each family furnishing the food and cooking one meal for everyone.  For example if someone one day cooked chili, but then also have hot dogs or something for the kids. Spaghetti would probably have to be served with a simple sauce for the kids. Macaroni and cheese is a must! One day the kids could make their own pizzas. If all of your dinner time meals are busy, you could fix us a nice lunch. You could even tag team and work together on a meal. I do need two responsible adults to plan a simple Thanksgiving meal, so we can see who will fix what. I will need every one's help on this.

Sherrill and I will be responsible for the breakfast. There will be food there, who does the cooking we will have to see. If each family would bring 2-3 boxes of cereal that would help a lot. You could also pick up a gallon of milk when needed.  We will make sure there is bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, toast, and oatmeal. If there are any special items you want, bring them. Just remember, we will have to bring home or throw out what is not eaten.  Everyone will have keep extra food picked up due to Catherine's allergies. Tables will need to be wiped down constantly.

Peanut butter and jelly are a staple, but if you want ham, turkey, etc, please bring your own.

Please let me know if you are willing to furnish and cook a meal. Also let me know what you can fix for Thanksgiving. We will need the regular stuff, plus desserts. Or, we could just have desserts!

I'm getting excited! I need some ideas!

Happy Columbus Day

Time for a quick history lesson......
Remember to tell the kids and have them memorize........

In fourteen hundred and ninety two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

What a Relief!

Sherrill's tooth fell out AGAIN Sunday morning. He went to pick up lunch snaggle toothed!

This morning at 8:45 AM he had his permanent crown glued on.  Hope this one stays FOREVER!

Kenny at work

Christy decides to go buy 25 pounds of bell pepper.
You can see who gets the job of chopping it up.
