Scratch and Sniff

As we were eating lunch today, Sherrill was talking about Church activities and he abruptly said,

"I wonder who named it Scratch and Sniff". I asked him who named what "Scratch and sniff". His face turned a little red, he smiled and he said...."Well what do you call it when they stay after church to eat." I reminded him that it is called "Linger Longer". He told me that was a dumb name, and couldn't understand who would have come up with that name. I couldn't help but to bust out laughing, asking who at church did he want to "sniff".

A week ago we had the "Scratch and Sniff" conversation with Kat. I was telling Kat about Mandy's new tattoo, when Kat decided the entire family should go out and get a "lime/lyme" tattoo to show out support for Mandy and her Lyme disease. We immediately thought of the "scratch and Sniff" lime

stickers. 

Somehow the conversation from last Sunday has finally caught up with him this Sunday.  I am telling you....... Getting old can be hilarious!

The Marvels of Modern Communication

I received an email this morning to tell me my tests results were in and I could go online to view them. They weren't MY test results, they were my dads. He had gone in for some lab work Monday before his appointment with his cardiologist tomorrow. The cardiologist had forward the results to his regular Dr. who in turn includes it in his My Chart, which sends out an email telling me the results are there. I was happily able to call dad to tell him he had passed his test. His response......."What test?" He was quick to remember that he had had a blood test and that was what I was talking about.

His next response "Did I get a Hundred"? You can't help but love that man. Almost 88 years old, and can still stay on top of things. We are truly blessed!

Pokemon Go

Eli is still out catching Pokemon. He had some friends spend the night last week. They slipped out of the house at 1:00 AM to go to the park a block away to go catch Pokemon. I guess he got his love for Pokemon from Chris. At the age of 4 Chris was already infatuated with Pokemon.

Maybe people should slow down a little bit before they get too crazy about this game?

Hey kids....... I am presently incommunicado.
The home phone line is dead until Thursday afternoon.
The concrete man must have cut the line when he was framing up his work. I just discovered it this morning. So, just hold onto your britches until we get this straightened out. We do have our cell phones, but you know that we don't pay much attention to them!

I Caught Them in the Act ! ! !

I got up before 7 AM so I could get the back deck power washed before it got hot. I went in the kitchen and there they were, Jack and Sherrill. Not only did Jack have his regular bacon down ready to eat, Sherrill had put him a handful of shredded cheese with it!  I caught them...... both of them know better.  I asked Sherrill what happened the last time we gave a dog cheese, then I had to refresh his memory.
Remember Possum? I was cleaning out the refrigerator one day and there was about 2 pounds of cheese that had started to mold, and about a half of a chicken (not molded). Sherrill fed it to Possum, who would eat about anything. Anyway, Possum couldn't PooP for about a week! We had to take him to the vet, leave him there, and wait. They tried laxatives, didn't work. They tried suppositories, didn't work. The vet said he finally had to go up in there and dig it out.......bone slivers that were being held together with some unknown substance........the cheese of course. I think that bill was about $250.00.
Sherrill thinks Jack is supposed to eat whatever he does, so when Sherrill was fixing his omelet, he just gave Jack a handful of cheese! These two are going to get the best of me.

Jack's New Diagnosis

I have just realized that Jack has OCD.
He sleeps on Sherrill's chair all day, every day. Sherill has a towel on the seat of his chair, pulled real tight to stay in place. As Jack gets older, he has a problem jumping on the chair his first try, so often his claws reach the top of the towel, but the rest of him does not, so each time the towels slides just a fraction of an inch. After while the towel is no longer taut, leaving little ridges or wrinkles. So, what does Jack do, he sits there scratching the towel with his paws trying to pull it tight. All day throughout the day you might hear....scratch, scratch, scratch. Always three consecutive sounds.
This dog has been hanging out with the cats WAY to much!

I am Spending YOUR Inheritance ........

Yes, I have found my newest addiction. Last year this time it was Wendy's apple pecan salad. This year it is Bojangles chicken supremes Kid's meal....with cajun pintos and a biscuit! I spent 20 something dollars during the month of May at Bojangles, and about thirty five during the month of June. Nothing but pure gluttony on my part.

Since Sherrill is working at a Bojangles most days, he eats there a lot. He use to carry his lunch every day, but now just a couple of days a week. But, at $4.29 for a kids meal, I think I am doing pretty good!

And by the way.....I have given up my Pepsi's. The morning caffeine headache has just about gone away.
