9-1-1

Mom called today around lunch time, and we were catching up on the latest news. She told me that the sheriff's department had just driven by, and they were backing up. No, they were pulling up to the driveway, and were coming to the door. 

The deputy sheriff tells her that they had just received a 911 call from her house about 10 minutes ago.  She told them NO that she had been talking long distance for 20 minutes or more, and they had made a mistake. He goes on to confirm her phone number and address. Then I realize, DAD could be in the back yard, and dialed 911 from the garage.

I told her to tell the deputy to go check out the garage and back yard. She hangs up, and I call their neighbor, and then call my sister. I call back to mom's house, only to find out that dad's truck isn't even in the yard, and that he is at work.

Question for the day....... can these new fan dangled pace makers call 911 on their own? Dad's has an apparatus that connects to cell towers that he carries around with him if he is going to be out of the house for 2 hours or more.

Isabella got a weaving loom for her birthday. Carter and I helped her put it together and start her work! She is using a long wooden needle, and has the process down pat! Good job Izzy!

Rye grass is bright green and growing really fast thanks to the rain.
The front yard is full of building materials and general junk!
Who is expected to decorate for Halloween in all of this mess? Guess I will have to put it up one day,
and take it down the next.

Dad is HOME

Grandaddy Joe is home and resting comfortably. Please give him an extra day of quiet time to rest. I know he will be bombarded with phone calls and visits. Hold off on any calls until the weekend if you can. Sunday afternoon 1-4 is nap time.

Sherrill and I will be going to visit him on Saturday.

A big "THANK YOU" to my dear sister Debbie that took charge of the situation, and kept everyone in line and under control. It can be quite a stressful time sitting at the hospital with two parents, both which do NOT want to be there! You did a great job sis! You are the best. Love you.

NEWS FLASH ! ! !

Grandaddy Joe is in the hospital getting a pacemaker put in this afternoon.  No news or details.
Will know more after 3PM hopefully.

Also, the guy here working cut the phone line......so NO HOME PHONE until Friday afternoon.
You will have to call on one of the cell phones.

They are moving the plane to the traffic circle at the beginning of Center Street. We will soon have three or four round-a-bouts. Downtown is growing! I love working downtown and meeting all the weird people!

Did YOU Survive the Flood?

Friday night during one of the downpours I was sitting at my desk and heard water streaming. Now it was pouring cats, dogs, and a few other things outside, but this sounded INSIDE. I went to the sliding glass door, and there were TWO steady streams of water that had made a little pond on the floor (yes my not so new hardwood floors). I screamed for Sherrill to grab some beach towels, and I ran for the paper towels......as if they were really going to help.
We got it all cleaned up, but there was a still two steady streams, which to me was like a gusher! I kept telling Sherrill he had to do something. He angrily replied that it was pouring outside, and there was nothing we could do. He grabbed a few trash bags to cover the floor, but the water was going under them. I told him we needed some BIG pieces of plastic, so he went to the van and cut me off a large piece. That didn't work either. I told him he needed to caulk where it was coming in, to which he told me that wouldn't work because it was wet. I asked it Bubble gum would work!
I kept telling him we couldn't go to bed with it raining in the house. A few minutes later I see the patio gate open with him hauling a 20 foot ladder. He climbs on top of the house, in the downpour, and covers the corner where it is leaking with plastic, leaving enough plastic to hang over about 4 feet, which diverted the water to the steps, and not on the door itself.
He came inside talking to himself (a few words of profanity I am quite sure), and went to change his clothes. I went ahead covered the floor with plastic and towels, just in case.
FAST FORWARD now to Saturday morning. I get a call, which awakens me, and it is the Croom Drive renter to tell me there was a leak in the house. I told him not to worry, I had a leak too, and mine was getting fixed first! So, Sherrill had two leaks to fix that day!
FAST FORWARD to today! I was in the kitchen cleaning up, and yet again I hear water running. I reach over, pick up the phone, and tell Sherrill, I don't know what it is, but I don't think it is going to be good. He tells me to check it out and call him back. YEP, the hose had disconnected from the ice maker, and water everywhere.........again!
So yes, as the saying goes.......When it rains, it pours!

How Many Days Can YOU go WITHOUT.....

Your Microwave?
Ours died a little over three weeks ago. I told Sherrill I liked having the extra counter space. So, now we are trying to see how long can we go without a microwave. The toughest part is heating up leftovers for Sherrill. I fill up a pie pan, put it in the toaster oven on bake, and let it heat up slow.
The problem is, he eats more than one plate of food.

So, after he eats his first plate, I will wait and see what he wants in his second plate, or third. So far, he has only waited for 2 plates per meal. I guess heating up 3 plates takes just too much time. Jack just can't wait that long. After he eats, he is ready to GO GO GO.
