Is YOUR Family the BEST ?

I LOVE this song, and love watching kids and old folks dance to it.
My challenge to you, if EACH of you six kids, PLUS Kelli get their family, (or any part thereof) to make a short video dancing to this song, I will teach your dad how to do the Stanky Leg movement, and some of the others. That is......once I get a video from all of you! There might even be a surprise for the best video. Who's game?

Home

PermaBurn is 640 private and secluded acres of land that is completely managed by its own members. It’s a place designed specifically with burners in mind. A place where you can create, live, and breath the Burning Man lifestyle all year round.
We give you the blank canvas and you add the theme camps, shade structures, installations, mutant vehicle workshops, monstrous art monuments, gardens or whatever else you can dream up.
PermaBurn is where you can see your visions become reality – and not just for a week. Come and go as you please, steadily building and adding to your manifestations as you go, with no impermanence and no threat of having to pull it down or burn it at the end of a week.
PermaBurn is only 120 miles from Gerlach, making it an ideal place to store all your camp equipment for the rest of the year. Knowing that its all ready to be easily transported straight to the burn, whenever you need it.
PermaBurn takes all the best parts of Burning Man : the fun, the experience, the interaction. and removes the not-so-good parts: the impermanence, the rules, the dust, and the exodus….
leaving you feeling free to let your imagination run wild.

Grandma's Car VS Mom's Car

Riding in Grandma's car on the way to meet mom.
Grandma gives me a bottle of water to drink, and bribes me with $5.00.

So, I take my $5.00, buy myself lunch, and eat it in mom's car.
That way she can clean up my mess and Grandma doesn't have to.
Isn't that what Grandma's are for?

Grandpa and Grandson

Sherrill came home yesterday and was quite surprised to see "Little Man" sitting at the kitchen table.
"What are you doing here?"
"My mom got tired of me."
"So, how long are you staying?"
"About 18 years. That is after Christmas isn't it?"

After they ate, Sherrill told him to come on, it's time to walk Jack. Blake asked him which way was he going. Sherrill told him either way HE wanted to go. So off they went, the three of them. I think Jack is just a little jealous.

Busy, Busy Grandma

I still say growing older does have it's advantages. Who cares if you go to the grocery store without shaving your legs first?  And who cares if your hair isn't just perfect? Just face it, unless you are looking to pick some one up, who cares? I sure don't!

Another thing, I can still do most things I use to do. It may take a little longer, and I might not do it as  good as I once would, but the job does get done. I just don't understand how your arms get shorter over time. Reaching up to the second shelf in the kitchen can be a challenge, and throwing those beach towels on the top shelf of the linen closet, let's just say it is NOT a pretty sight.

But life goes on. I still average two online classes a week, still volunteer twice a week, and still keep up with grandaddy Joe's warranty work and invoicing, and Sherrill's paperwork. I still cook at least five to six full course meals a week, keep the house clean enough for two old folks, and keep the laundry done. Add to that trips to the bank, post office, grocery store, etc and talking on the phone.
You know, the same ole, same ole.

So, if I don't post something here, don't worry, I'm not dead. I am just off doing something else.
I don't take a lot of pictures like I once did, and I don't have quite as much to say. My 80 MPH run has backed back to a mere 60 MPH, and some days drop back to about 50 MPH.

Life is good. I go where I want to go, sleep when I want to sleep, say what I want to say, and eat what I want to eat. I am just waiting now for "fat boy" to slow down so he can enjoy the same!

A Little Helper

Oh look,  Blake can come and help! That boy LOVES pine cones!
Kelli, that looks like a great place for him to ride his bike.

Yard Work

The yard men came today.
That would be Sherrill and Abel. It took them over 3 hours to rake up the pine straw, pick up pine cones, cut the grass, weed eat, edge around the driveway, burn the stuff, and blow the rest of it to the neighbor's yards! It was a little warm outside too. I think the old man will be ready for a nap this afternoon.

I was left for the inside work. I had to get the guest room ready for visitors tonight, and make an attempt to straighten up things on the dining room table. You would not believe the stack of papers I have been working on.

Grandpa is GOING TO SCHOOL........

He is going to have to learn simple technology!

I received a phone call this morning "Judy, I am on Falls of the Neuse Road" find me a Lowe's".
Where on Falls of the Neuse I asked.
"I don't know, just find me a Lowe's".

Now, last night I printed out directions to two different jobs he was going to, AND I put the addressees into Garmin for him. As I was doing it, I told him that HE needed to do it himself, that I had a hard day at work. He told me if I couldn't do it, that I would be getting a decrease in pay, so I was quiet...... for once!

I reminded him he had Garmin, and he could do it! He was quick to tell me HE was DRIVING! I told him to stop, then gave him directions on what to do. The problem was, I don't usually use points of interest, so that was a little glitch. He finally found shopping, then was typing in Lowes, but couldn't find the "E" on the keyboard! I am sitting here, he is stressing out there, all over the letter "E".

Believe me, this weekend, Old Pa is getting a lesson on technology. I even taught him this week how to get on the Mac, go into contacts, and find phone numbers! The marvels of modern technology, and he is missing out on all of it!

Are you wondering WHY I print out directions, and program Garmin? Simple.  He said Garmin speaks to him in English, and Jose reads him the directions in Spanish. Could this be the reason he couldn't find the letter "E"?

Eli joins BNN

Eli started to school this week. I was talking to him, and he told me he was a member of Billinghurst
News Network.  Starting today, he would be reporting the day's events to everyone in the school. I just assumed it would be through the intercom system, but NO. He has a female co-anchor, and it is sent to the green screens in every classroom.

Welcome to the world of the news Mr Elias Roller.  Keep them laughing!

Happy Birthday Scott

Oh NO he DIDN'T

I have been doing a little Hobbling and wobbling for the past couple of weeks.
Sherrill informed me yesterday that if I didn't get straightened out that he was going to put me in a rest home. Has he lost it?

I was quick to tell him that HE was not putting me anywhere, that I would be the one to put myself where I wanted to go! I pulled something in my knee, and he wants to make fun of it. But that's okay,
He is the one that can NEVER find his glasses, or his keys!

Payback will be just and swift!

Attention Goldsboro "Cousins"

Grandma got him addicted to these!
I received a phone call from Blake Friday asking if the "cousins" were back home from the beach.
I told him that you should be back Saturday or Sunday. He is requesting a text once you return.
I thinks he misses you.

So Blake, just to let you know.........THEY ARE BACK ! ! !

Old Neuse River Bridge

Somebody just posted this on Facebook. It's the old bridge at Mar Mac. You know, the one down by Whiskey Dick's Saloon. It's off to the right from the new bridge we travel over today.  They were asking who knew where it was. How could any one from the area NOT know where this bridge is.
The Kornegay house is right there off to the side under the bridge. They are Charlie's cousins.

Kelli Update

Kelli is wearing a holter monitor for a week.
I always thought 24 hours was WAY to much......... but could you do it for an entire week?

Eli on Vacation

Remember when we would go on vacation and leave Sherrill behind to work?  This was just the opposite. Joe and Eli wet on vacation and left Kat behind to work. This is Eli hanging out with his cousins. Looks like FUN!

Blake...... again

And why is it this boy is ALWAYS eating? A growing little man I guess.

I took this when I saw him in April.

Uncle Hallett passed away tonight at 7:00 pm. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday May 27th.

Blake and Grandma

Photo via Kelli

Last week "Little man" came to visit for a few days. He met his "cousins" and had a great time playing with them. He had problems remembering their names, so he just called them that boy and little girl. Lauren was "that tall girl".

The real laugh though came when he was going through pictures. He came across one of Wendy and Randy. He shouts out, "There's Grandma", and a smile covers his face. Then he started frowning....
"That's Murray....I don't like him". I replied with, "Everybody likes Murray". He snapped back with,
"Murray won't let me put my fingers in my mouth. He said I have worms in my mouth." So Randy, the next time Blake  is with you, it's up to YOU to explain the correlation between dirty fingers and worms. I always heard the same story as a child, but it was just too much for me to explain to him!

He was pleased to announce that he does NOT have worms in his mouth!
