 I just bought more decorations Saturday.

I think I am going with 4 trees in the living and dining area this year.

I'm in trouble again......

I was up in the cloud the other day going through some documents, and found about 150 obituaries and pictures I decided to upload to familysearch.org. For those of you that aren't familiar with this, you can sign up for free and see what genealogy information I have submitted there. It is one large
collaborative tree, so anyone can add, or dispute anything you put on there. You can type Matilda Mae Lane, and it will pull up her parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. On James Roland McKeel's side his Newsome line goes back to like the 1500's. Just dead people show up, not living ones. You can start your own tree, put in yourself, your dad and mom, then once you put in Grandma Matilda and James, it will connect all the generations they have on there.

Back to my story though....... I received an email from familysearch.org and they told me the information I submitted did not meet their approval, and that they would be deleting it within 30 days. Now, I am the person at church that TEACHES people HOW to attach this information to their family member, and they have the nerve to tell ME they don't allow it?!?!? How dare they!

So, I had to research to see exactly what I had actually put on there. It was a newspaper article that told about the suicide of Sherrill's great uncle that was 26, a fireman here in Goldsboro, and was found with a self inflicted gunshot.

As I read back through the do's and don'ts I discovered that I was supposed to only include "Uplifting" information concerning each family member. I guess they don't want to know all the bad stuff! So, back in the file it goes.

I got one up on them though. After I downloaded a picture of Grandaddy Goodwin in a boat, I noticed a liquor bottle sitting at his feet! I guess they haven't seen that one yet!

Sherrill Did It!

Remember the wall phones in the kitchen? And, do you remember when cordless phones came in, and out went the old landlines? People usually covered the area with a plastic plate that would match their light switches and receptacles.
Sherrill has been working on the kitchen and decided to take off the plate and close it in with some new sheetrock to make it look good as new. No problem, right?
The day after he did the repair, I realized NO ONE had called me. The phone would like a half a ring, but no one was there. I could call out, but no one would call IN. I called the phone company, and they scheduled a repairman to come out tomorrow.
In the meantime, I had Sherrill to go to the back of the house and hook up an old phone.....it worked fine. So, I realized Sherrill had done something to the inside wiring. He admitted he had capped off the wires and just pushed them down into the hole.

This is what I found! He had twisted all different colors together! I am surprised the phone even worked at all! I found MY wire cutters, and cut off the wires all the way to the gray main wires.

I left him to screw on the caps and to patch the wall, again!

Just think how nice it is to only make outgoing calls, and not getting any calls from telemarketers!

I Found It ! ! !

You might have to blow it up big to read this. I read on the obit that he died at the chain gang prison, so I had to find out the entire story. I found a three part article in the newspaper from 1940.

To sum it up, he was preaching one Sunday, and was the only "guard" with the prisoners at the time.

He was attacked, and was killed along with another prisoner. Such a sad story.

Sometimes You Gotta Go Down Fighting

Gunshot wound to abdomen. Homicide. Accidental shot in scuffle for gun.
Please note that this man was almost 72 years old, and was a minister.
He was my 4th great uncle.......the family that was Native American.
Sometimes you gotta go down fighting!
