Here we go again ...............

It all started last Sunday.  We can blame it on Mandy. She made like 4 batches of cookies, fudge, and lots and lots of chocolate covered pretzels.

Then came Tuesday, and a package from Christy........ more chocolate covered pretzels.......double dipped ones! He LOVES these things.

You know what "fat boy" has been doing. One container of the pretzels has been emptied, as well as half of the two cookie containers. Every time he walks by, his hand is in something.

Then last night a refreshing treat! Fruit. Real fruit, cheese and crackers, nuts, and popcorn, candy, and more candy.  Thanks Wendy!

Last night the old man went to bed about 8:30. He turned off all four Christmas trees, and started turning off lights. I was sitting in the dark watching TV, but then sometime after 9:00 I went to the laundry closet to get a dust mop so I could clean my room. All the lights are off except for the back hall light. I hear a knock at the door. I call for Sherrill to come see who it is, and I see a man walking through the yard.
Sherrill opens the door, and realizes it was the UPS man, arrived somewhere between 9-9:30.  He could have gotten shot!

I continue to try to keep him OUT of the sweets, but you know how that is!

Only from the mouth of a man........

After gorging himself last night with steak, salad, french fries, and bread, Sherrill leaned back in his

chair and asked "What's for dinner tomorrow night?" Are you kidding me? Really?

I quickly replied, "Whatever you take out of the freezer".  Being sincere, he asked me what was in there that I would like to have. That was a simple answer. My reply was a Klondike bar.

He replied disgustedly, "Fine, we will eat ice cream for dinner."

Who fills their belly to the rim, and then is worried about Sunday dinner?  Only Sherrill!

And did I forget to tell you about the 4 pies HE consumed in a week?  You gotta love that man.

What will he do next?

I called mom today, and she requested I call her right back. So, I wait a few minutes, call her, and no response. I wait a while longer, and still no response.  Finally she returns my call.

She explains to me that once I hung up, a neighbor called to ask her if she was alright. She told him that yes, she was fine, and why was he asking.  He told her that her burglar alarm was ringing, and he just wanted to make sure everything was OK.

She told him that Yes, all was well, that dad had hooked up the ringer on the phone to the burglar alarm, so when the phone rings he could hear it when he is outside on the tractor. By the end of their conversation dad did in fact turn off the alarm and picked up the phone to talk to the neighbor!

And you kids think WE (your dad and myself) are the crazy ones? ? ? ?

Kat told me not too long ago I needed to get out more and go walking around stores. My first thought,
"No thank you". I have what I need right here.
But then, I realized I had to go to Dick's. I didn't even know where Dicks was.  So, yesterday I went to Dicks and hung out with all the "young folks" that were not in school, or did not have jobs.  This morning when Kat called I told her it felt pretty good to get out, look around, and realize I had the money to buy about anything I wanted in that store. But hey, 12.99 for a pair of what they call "cabin socks"?  I don't think so!
So, this afternoon I decided that is was so nice outside, I would go tackle another store. Yes, two weeks before Christmas, and the fools are out everywhere. Today I made it through three stores.
I came home, ate a salad, laid back to watch my soap, and fell asleep! I guess a store a day is more along my style!

Best Trick OR Treaters EVER!

As I was sitting back in my recliner Halloween night, the door bell rang, and Sherrill opened the door.
I immediately heard "Hey Mr Jack, Hey Jack". I shouted to Sherrill, "Is that the little boy from around the road".  He told me it was, and Jack had recognized his voice and ran to greet him.
I reminded Sherrill to give him a LARGE bag of candy...... he is of course their little friend.

A couple of years ago Sherrill was walking Jack and a little child called out, "What's your name?.
Sherrill didn't understand him, and replied "Jack". The next day the little boy calls out "What's your dog's name?" Sherrill told him "Jack".

Then the little boy replies, "You and the dog have the SAME name?" Sherrill told him yes, and every since then they have been friends.......little boy, Jack, and Mr Jack.

What is WRONG with these BOY?

I thought Sherrill was loosing it, but wait until you hear this one!

Chris starts his new job today as a parking valet for a Hotel there. It's freezing, and snowing where he lives, so what does he do, gets on his bike and tries to make it an hour away in that weather. When he realizes he can't make it, he parks his bike at the train station, and heads on out. The only problem, once he gets OFF the train, he still has to walk an hour to get to work!
So, he calls his cousin's wife, to see if she would come and get him. Now, this is the same cousin that is in med school, has only one car, plus 3 kids to get to school (the wife is the chauffeur.

Sherrill and Jack just left to go to the Dudley Post Office. Next I hear water running outside, so I go to the front door to look out, and Sherrill is filling up Jack's water bowl. I told him, you are just going 10 miles down the road, you DON'T need to carry water for him.
"Yes I do, he will get thirsty before we get back"!
What is wrong with this man? ? ?

And, just a note about something a little strange.........
Have you ever had trick or treaters stop to pose for selfies in front of your house? We had that as well as mom's taking pictures of their kids with the decorations in front of the house......strange?!?

Today while Mandy was putting the Halloween decorations in the attic, I asked her to bring down my trees........just so Fat Boy wouldn't have to do it by himself. She put them together, and realized the BIG tree has about half of its lights out. So, she started taking the lights off the tree.
She went to Walmart to pick up some new LED lights "cool white". When I saw them, they were BLUE. Nope, I can't have a BLUE tree! Who knew lights came in three different WHITES?
Too many changes going on for this old woman!

9-1-1

Mom called today around lunch time, and we were catching up on the latest news. She told me that the sheriff's department had just driven by, and they were backing up. No, they were pulling up to the driveway, and were coming to the door. 

The deputy sheriff tells her that they had just received a 911 call from her house about 10 minutes ago.  She told them NO that she had been talking long distance for 20 minutes or more, and they had made a mistake. He goes on to confirm her phone number and address. Then I realize, DAD could be in the back yard, and dialed 911 from the garage.

I told her to tell the deputy to go check out the garage and back yard. She hangs up, and I call their neighbor, and then call my sister. I call back to mom's house, only to find out that dad's truck isn't even in the yard, and that he is at work.

Question for the day....... can these new fan dangled pace makers call 911 on their own? Dad's has an apparatus that connects to cell towers that he carries around with him if he is going to be out of the house for 2 hours or more.
