Whew! I'm tired!

After all of those days of leisure living during the hurricane, I became a little spoiled. Not today though. Places to go, things to do!

I made my run to town for errands. Although "town" is just 6 miles away, some days it seems like 30 miles or more. Then on my way home.........produce stand. Fresh vegetables. Gotta stop there. So I get a half of bushel of peas. I guess they were a cross between purple shelled peas and crowder peas. I came home, shelled them and froze them. After that was done, I got back to my quilting.

I forgot that I had a webnair class today at 2:00 on researching African Americans, so I fired up the Mac and watched the webnair while I was sewing. Quite a multi-tasker when I need to be.  I had to stop by 4:00 to cook dinner. Oh what fun. I cooked up a lot of food (the kind you don't eat Mandy).

I still have to download my Web pages class from today, and do that work. Now it's time for a shower, pj's, and Big Brother!

Oh.... news flash! Isaac might ride the little school bus to school. Kat is considering it!

Any news from any of you?

Time for some Cleaning!

After that hurricane and with all the clean up mess outside, I decided I had better start with the mess inside. You know how I do it, work a little, sit a little, work a little, etc. When Meghan came in after school she swept out the foyer for me. I hadn't gotten to it yet. She's turning out to be a good little worker. Now, if only Mandy could get her to do it at home.

I've been working on a new quilt. Not mentioning any names, but it is for a little boy that is decorating his room with a "western theme".  My dining room table stays a mess with my sewing stuff. I wish it would hurry and cool down so I can move out to the garage. There's an A/C out there, but I don't like cooling such a large space if I don't need to!

Isaac went to his new school today. Kat seems to think it will be a good fit for him. I just hope he graduates from there FAST so he can go to regular school.

Sherrill is still working on the rental properties. He made his round to all 3 places. Everybody had trees down! At least he has our yard clean.

Mandy and Christy have been having fun hanging out at the gym. . I know they are going there to check out the guys. I haven't seen Mandy this happy in awhile.

That's about all I know for now

Something to Brighten my Day!

Beautiful, Beautiful Liv

The most handsome Cameron

Fishing Fun!
Randy,
Thanks for posting these on Facebook. Looks like they had a great time!

We Survived!

Yep, we made it through the storm. I guess we (Sherrill) will be spending the next couple of weeks cleaning up.
Still no power. We have the generator going, cooling 3 rooms, with the fridge, freezer, and tv. We have been alternating what appliances to run. This morning Sherrill cooked us bacon and eggs on the griddle. Today Mandy got smart and plugged in the modem and wireless so I could get on the internet. Now she will be able to do her homework online. Progress Energy reports that the power may be out for "MULTIPLE" days. That is going to be miserable, especially since it is supposed to be up in the mid 90's today!
Just to let you know how bad things really are............Mandy was at Andy's last night picking up dinner when they reported that they had run out of food! Hey, I'll carry them all the food they want, if they will just cook it.
Today for lunch I am cooking pork chops and cheesy potatoes on the grill. I'm not what sure what kind of veggie we are going to throw on there. Ohhh, I wonder if I can throw frozen corn on the cob on there? I have some ears I froze this year!
As you can see from the pictures below, we have some cleaning up to do at the Croom Drive house, and at the trailer.I'm so glad that tree at the trailer fell back, and not towards the trailer, or it would have badly injured the child sleeping in that back bedroom! Thank goodness everyone was safe!
Wendy, hope your place at the beach survived.
No more news. I'll post again when I can.

Helpers wanted

If anyone wants to clean my yard you're more than welcome to come

Inches away

See....its only inches away from their truck.

This tree is Hugh...

So this tree feel from the yard beside the trailer, crushed the fence and almost hit the peoples truck.

More damage at the trailer

At least this tree feel to the ground.

Roots anyone

Dad has some work ahead of him this week.

Croom drive

The big tree took another hit.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Blog!

Two years ago I made this post.
School has begun!

Now that school time is here there is plenty of exciting things going on. Please take the time a couple of times a week to stop by and let us know what's going on with YOUR child.

That was August 26, 2009. Time sure has flown by. Not much is posted about the grandkids. Mostly it is just the ramblings of an old woman. Oh well, that's OK. I almost always have something to say, just ask Sherrill!

* News for the week, Chris got his permit....again. He had it before he ever left Vegas, but it expired and he had to get another one.

* Meghan starts preschool Tuesday. Hip Hip Hooray! She will LOVE it!

* Seth has made it through two days of school, and still loves his teacher.

* We are just sitting back 'Chillin, waiting for the hurricane to come.

We need some new pictures on here. Would someone please post some, or just put them on Facebook and I will steal them from there. Oh yeah, Kelli has posted some more of
Blake I haven't stolen yet.

Hope everyone is ready for the storm. Stay safe!
Remember, my phone is digital phone, so when the cable goes out, so does the phone. If you need us, call a cell phone, or just call Mandy!

Where were YOU when the ground shook?

I was sitting at the computer in the dining room. Seth was on his laptop in the living room sitting at my desk. My monitor started shaking, and I looked down, and my knees were even shaking. I told him,"Seth, quit shaking the floor." He said, "I'm not shaking the floor, I'm shaking to". My monitor continued to shake, his laptop continued to shake, and I just looked out the window to see if the wind was blowing.
I thought Meg might have been doing something, but she was watching TV in Papa's room.

It was only a few minutes later that I turned on TV to find out there was an earthquake! I called Sherrill, and just like a man, he didn't even realize anything had happened.

So, where were YOU When the ground shook?

Open house tonight

Open House is tonight for all of those back to school kiddos. Time to meet those teachers, and get ready for the new school year. Hope everyone is ready! ! !

I just LOVE those Triplets

I just LOVE seeing new pictures of the triplets. Chris and Cherie are great about keeping us updated with pictures. Londyn is the one with hair sitting down. It looks like Brock next to her, and Cannon standing. Mandy, you saw them last, does that look right? Cannon is the one with the brown eyes. He's going to look like his dad!

Kenny and School

I talked to Kenny today to see how his day went at school.
Me: "Kenny, did you have a good day at school today".
Kenny: "No"
Me:  Did you like your teacher?
Kenny: "Yes"
Me:" Did you help Luke to his class?"
Kenny:"Yes"
Me: "Did you like riding the school bus?"
Kenny: "No, I don't like going to school, so why would I want to ride the school bus?"

Now, Luke on the other hand talked a mile a minute. He is going to LOVE school. Just another room full of kids to listen to his stories!

Wendy, please have Cameron give me a call so he can tell me how he is enjoying school. And, please tell Randy I am waiting to see those fishing pictures!

1st Day of School

It's the 1st day of school for the McEwan boys. Both Ken and Luke get to go to school all day. Catherine will start in 2 weeks. So now my house will quite down, if only for a little while. At least till Big Mack starts to tear down my house.

Gwammma, What do I do with this?

What is this? What do I do with it?

A pony tail?

A head scarf?

Help! I look like Aunt Jemima!

Cowgirl?

Grandma's little hippie!

Oh no, NOT a diaper!

The things a Grandma will do to entertain a child!

Grandma's First Day of School

I got up this morning at 8:00, ready to start my first day of school. I was so excited. Thank goodness I didn't have to worry about what to wear. An old pair of capris and a big t-shirt will do fine. Bare feet of course, you learn faster that way. I have to go to the garage where the printer is to print out my first lesson.
Twenty four pages of things I have never heard of before. I get ready to check my mail, and the internet is down. I come inside, and the TV isn't working, nor the phone.  Time Warner, you have done it to me again! I have 1 hour of totally quiet time, just enough time to read and study the 24 pages of class material. As soon as I finish reading and taking notes, I go to the computer, and the internet is back. Just in time to take my first test. results are......... drumroll please.........100.  I did it, I did it, I did it, WOW!

FYI:
Did you know that the internet and the world wide web are not the same? The internet was developed in 1957 and the web not until the early 1990's?

Did you know the http in front of a  web address stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol?

My next class doesn't post until Friday. I can't wait! ! !

Sydney and the Watermelon

Last night I didn't have a thing to post about. They I wake up this morning and see these pictures on Facebook. All for the love of a watermelon!

Going back to School!

OK, I am going to do it.
If everyone else is going back to school. so am I.
I have enrolled in this class.
Oh no, it starts Wednesday!!
HELP!

Create and post your very own Web site on the Internet using HTML in this extensive, hands-on, six week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure and layout of your Web site, create pages full of neatly formatted text, build links between the pages and to the outside world, and add color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, hot buttons, and animation. You'll also learn critical and timely information on securing the best possible location in search engine listings, and powerful no-cost or low-cost web marketing strategies.

Another class!

google.com
I just attended a webinar on Google+. (Google plus) It was great!
It took Google+ 24 days to reach 20 million members.
It took facebook 1152 days to reach that mark.
I'm so excited, and can't wait to start using it.
I will be able to direct who I want to receive the posts I make through different circles of friends, family, etc
This old Ma is learning something new every day!

One of those Days.......

Have you ever had one of those days?
I think I had one today. Everything is going in slow motion. I had nothing I needed to do, nothing I wanted to do. So I go hang out in the garage, get on my laptop, and decide to print out a few pictures for Daniel, the nephew in California. I spend 30 minutes trying to get the wireless working, but no luck. I call Mandy and she tells me, "restart your computer". I tried, and it worked. Now why couldn't she have told me that 30 minutes ago? Oh well, I got my pictures printed, letter written, and ready to mail.

Bathroom anyone ? ? ?

I just talked to my mom about my brother and his family's visit to E. City. Everyone had a great time, except one MINOR detail. Mom and dad just have one bathroom. So, there were mom and dad, two brothers, one sister in law, four nieces and nephews ranging from 14 to 22. All of these were sharing ONE bathroom. Add to that were the days that I visited, Mandy visited, as well as others. Needless to say, this lonely little bathroom has NEVER seen so much excitement. My mom's one wish........another bathroom!
Wonder if she could use one of these?

Ready for a bite toilet

Portable toilet......my personal favorite!

Joey and Astrid's 27th anniversary.....Yesterday

Yesterday was Joey and Astrid's 27th wedding anniversary. They celebrated by taking the kids to the beach.

They came home and celebrated by cooking hot dogs and smores over the fire. Mom and dad even joined in. Fire works were involved also.

Tristen was even in on the fun. Notice dad's "Small" fire. Nothing like the 6 or 7 truck fire he had before. I guess he loves those fire trucks!
