Happy Easter Everyone
Happy Easter to one and all.
Finally, a quiet and peaceful day. Sherrill has gone to church, and I slept in. The Easter Bunny totally
hopped right past my house. Sherrill did get us a pineapple cake yesterday though. That's good enough.
Have a good day everyone, and give those kids a kiss for me!

Isabella and "Duckie"
Looking good isn't she, but don't let it fool you. She's having a bad day. She's really in a lot of pain.
Her abdomen is swollen, her back, side, and legs hurt. Chemo starts today.
I experienced something today that I hope none of you ever have to go through. I sat there and listened (mouth silent) as the Drs. read to James and Abby at least 6 pages of side effects that come
with the use of the chemo and other drugs. Then they hand them the papers to sign to give their permission. You could never imagine all the possible side effects.
Thanks to all of you "sisters" for the cards, gifts, best wishes and everything. Isabella is beginning to think that every time some one comes in the room she gets something new! She was proud to show me
"Duckie" and tell me how he works.
I hope she has a better day tomorrow.
Why ? ?
So, when the light goes out in the refrigerator, and you can't see the food, doesn't that mean that
I don't have to cook? I would HATE to pick up something I couldn't identify! And, to top it off, I'm out of Diet Pepsi. Sherrill has lots of Diet Coke, but I just can't drink that mess. Looks like I'm off to the store to buy light bulbs and Pepsi.

Jack
Jack was asleep in his chair and was having difficulty breathing. It sounded like he was wheezing.
I took out my Ipad to record this. See if you can hear some wheezing in between the barks.
This is what I deal with every time I walk past him. It has gotten to the point Sherrill has to leave him in the kitchen or bedroom when he leaves. If Sherrill lets him stay in the chair, he thinks HE is the boss for the day. If I am the one to put him in the chair, then he lets me be somewhat the boss, he just barks all day at me!

Don't be sad......
Today I got my first "Real" letter from Chris. I had received an email earlier in the week. After reading the entire letter, the part that stuck with me was "Please don't be sad Grandma".
I handed the letter to Sherrill to read, with tears in my eyes. Sherrill read the letter and started laughing.
His favorite part was where Chris had stated he was "pretty humble". It's amazing how one person reads things one way, and another person reads things totally different!
Chris and Jamieson had promised me another road trip when they return, this time with THEM doing the driving. Chris told me that he plans on coming back as soon as he gets back to the states. I miss him so much already, and have been keeping his mailbox full of letters and emails.
Please send him a note when you can. He will be leaving I guess in about 7 weeks.
Kelli, make sure you send him a picture of Blake!
Oh Kat, I think the last lady (LuAnn Staheli) that posted on the LDS/JAP was probably the mother of his companion. She said that her son had 3 years of Japanese in High School, and that's what Chris said about his companion.

Saw this on Facebook!
DO NOT wash your hair in the shower!!
It's so good to finally get a health warning that is useful!!!
IT INVOLVES THE SHAMPOO WHEN IT RUNS DOWN YOUR BODY WHEN YOU SHOWER WITH IT. WARNING TO US ALL!!!
Shampoo Warning! I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner! I use shampoo in the shower! When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning, "FOR EXTRA BODY AND VOLUME."
No wonder I have been gaining weight! Well! I got rid of that shampoo and I am going to start showering with Dawn Dishwashing Soap. It's label reads, "DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE."
Problem solved! If I don't answer the phone, I'll be in the shower!

M&M Peanut Butter
I just LOVE these things......MM peanut butter. Yesterday at Target I picked up a 38 ounce bag. Yes, that is NOT what I needed, but I wanted to fill up a candy jar, and this was the way to do it. I got home, opened the pack and poured them in the jar. I grabbed a handful, threw it in my mouth, and yuck, it tasted a little funny. I noticed a little cut on the front of the bag, but none had come through.
I just set them aside, then a little while ago I went and grabbed another handful, and the funny taste was there again.
I called the phone number on the bag and told her my story. No, they weren't discolored, they didn't appear to be tampered with, they just had a "chemical taste". I told her it was like when you buy MM's at a convenient store you know they are going to taste like smoke. Well, these taste like some type of chemical after taste.
She told me she would send me out coupons for replacement candy, and a box to return the bag and some of the MM's in.
Anyone want some funny tasting MM's.
Sorry Mandy, but they really did come from Target!

US Postal Service
I went to the post office today to mail out the clothes Chris left behind and a few other things. I had it all neatly packaged in a priority box. The mailman weighed it, asked if there was anything fragile, liquid...(you know the drill), and I paid and was walking out the door. Then I thought....Hey wait. I went back to the window and asked the mailman how much would it cost me to mail the same package to Japan. He put it back on the scales, typed in some numbers, and politely said fifty nine dollars and sixty three cents.
WHAT? I couldn't believe it. He repeated his answer and smiled.
He then informed me if I am mailing to Japan, DO NOT put it in a priority box. I am to use my own box, and send it first class mail. He said it should NOT weigh over 4 pounds. If I keep it that way, it would cost me a mere thirty seven dollars. Can you believe that?
Looks like I won't be mailing many packages to Japan!
And, by the way, I did get my own email from Chris today. I'm so excited! I thinks he wants REAL mail though, since he can read that every day.
Here's his address again......

Great Sunday Afternoon
Today has been a great day. After Sherrill and Jack went down for their afternoon naps, I had the house to myself. The TV was set on Lifetime network, and the movies just kept coming. I was at the sewing machine finishing up what I could on a baby quilt (Shhh, don't tell Holly). Then I put the outer boarders on the "Birthday quilt" that I have been working on since before Christmas. It is finally ready for the quilt frame. Now I can go digging into the fabric and start working on my next project. I'm not really sure what that will be though.
I have been looking everywhere for my measuring tape. I have two of them, and have found the white one. The yellow one is missing. The last time I saw it, Chris was playing with it. That boy will loose anything. We are still looking for the TV remote. He hides them on purpose.
I have been all day without a phone call, until just now. Peace. Real peace.
I'm ready to begin a new week. Look out world, I'm ready for you!

Feeling better now......
I'm feeling much better now. I sent Chris this email.
クリスこんにちは、
ここでおばあちゃん。
私はあなたを愛しています。
And another thing.......
I was going over my hospital bill the other day and saw where I was charged $971.00 for an ICU room. I was never IN an ICU room, didn't even come close to one. I called the hospital to ask about the charge, and she looked it up and told me I was in a telemetry room. Yes, I was in that room, but why $971.00? I even took the linens off the bed, put them in the hamper, emptied my trash before I left, everything. But, I can't argue about that. It is what it is. I asked her to send me an itemized statement, which I have been going over.
Now what do I see..... a $114.45 charge for and in-house drug screen. Really, at my size, do they really think I am a crack or heroin addict? Why should I have to pay for something they want? They could have just asked.
Today is a good day. All of these little things are just adding up. Jack, you better get outta here!

Time Warner......You're stressing me out
Yep, they've done it again!
They just don't do what they promise.
Before I changed over last month, I had talked with them on the phone. They had promised me 20mbps. Well, I have just been getting 14 mbps, so a couple of weeks ago I called to report the problem. Then they said "Oh no," you only get turbo for 3 months. I complained, so then they charged me for turbo, then turned around and gave me a credit. How dumb is that? Then she was sending up to
"escalations" to make the turbo permanent. She said I should hear from them in 7 days. Well, I never heard anything. I called back today, and no, still nothing I can do, except call every 3 months to get "turbo" credited to my account. Dumb, dumb, and dumber.
Now, the difference in the turbo, and the next slower speed is probably 10 dollars or less, but it's the principle of the thing. There was a special on TV the other night about the same thing. They promised a man a TV bill of $150.00 and it ended up being over $250.00. The news staff got his reduced.
Why can't they just do what they promise? So, please remind me in June, Sept, and Dec to call Time Warner. I want to save my pennies!

Happy Birthday Jack
Yep, today is Old Jack's birthday.
Sherrill bought him an ice cream cake on Monday, and we have been celebrating all week.
I do believe the older this dog gets, the meaner he gets.

Today is Thursday........
So that means church. I've missed the last 2 weeks with Chris here, and my lingering illness. I'm ready to go and tackle the world, well, kinda sorta. I wish I could stay home just one more week. But, the roast is in the crock pot, I have a stack of research to pass out, so soon I will be heading out.
Sherrill and I talked to Nate last night for his birthday. That boy is so laid back it is unreal. I hope he had a happy celebration.
I've already sent Chris his first email. Kat told me I couldn't email him ten times a day and overwhelm him. I've got to work on him a box this weekend. I still have some clothes he left here.
How are all the rest of you kids? What's going on?
How are all of you parents? Work, work, work. I know. I remember those days.
How about some pictures someone? Anyone!

The Rollers
The Rollers are somewhere in Utah. I'm not really sure where, but I know they are there.
They should be visiting with Joe's brother Kyle and his family somewhere in the Salt Lake area.
Chris reports to the MTC Wednesday afternoon at 1:45. That will be the end of life as he knows it for right now. No TV, no music, no internet without permission, no Coke, no girls. For about 2 months he will be on a strict schedule of rising early, classes, classes, classes, workout, eating, and studying. He will be paired with another young man doing the same. Where one goes, the other must follow. They stick together through thick and thin.
He will be allowed to receive mail, packages from home, and one day a week should be allowed to receive emails. His email address is christopher.roller@myldsmail.net
His mailing address is

Ugh!
This is just about how I feel.
I went to the Dr this morning, Yep, I'm sick. Four different "itis". Bronchitis, Sinusitis, and two other things. I must have really picked up something strange in DC! I got four different meds too. I explained to the Medstat Dr I have had this same stuff since Dec 20th when I saw him last. In between I have seen my regular Dr twice for the same mess. I've been on four different antibiotics, and when it's just about gone, WHAP it hits me again. He told me I should be better by July. I thought he was kidding, but he said NO. He said I was sick because of the weather, and by July it should all be gone.
Well, we will have to see about that! In the meantime, if you need a pill, I have plenty. Sherrill is on cooking duty, and of all times the gas is out on the grill. So, tonight was steak sticks, and I think pork chops for tomorrow. I just don't feel much like eating. And, to make a good day even better, I heard a knock, knock, at the door, and someone yelling McKeel! It was Jimmy Daniels. Well, for those of you that know Jimmy, realize that he can be a handful at times. I asked Sherrill to keep him in the yard, because I didn't want a lot of excitement.
I've taken my drugs, and I will soon be off to bed. Tonight will be Christopher's last night at home in his own bed. Tomorrow after church they leave for Utah. He doesn't have to report to the MTC until Wednesday, but he wants to see family along the way (Christy's family and Joe's brother's family).
So, good night everyone, sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite!

ATTENTION PLEASE.......
ATTENTION everyone..........
News to report..................
Isaac is a growing boy. His Occupational therapist started feeding him mashed bananas last week. This week she changed over to a slice of banana cut in fourths. He could eat that. Then he ate avocados. Yesterday Kat had him eating spaghetti-O and applesauce. He is up to 40 pounds now. He may be able to give up that feeding tube one day!
He still has problems with his heart beating too fast, but they have started him on medicine for that. It's a pretty tough call to make, because the medicine can slow it down too much.
His birthday is the end of the month. Let's see how much progress he can make before he turns 6.
And, by the way........ he will be going to the "big boy" school next year!

Chris .... on the road again
Chris is on the road again. This time he is headed to Memphis, Tennessee to visit Joe's parents.
They left this morning around 7:15, James and Abby taking them to the airport. He has about an hour layover in Atlanta, then on to Memphis. He has been "wired" the entire time he was here. I had to keep telling him to "roll it back a notch". He talked loud, always moving, and aggravating Jack to no end. I had to keep those two separated.
It was fun having two teenagers in the house again. Jamieson ate regular food, but Chris ate junk food and pizza. He downed a total of ten 2 liter cokes, and 20 frozen pizzas (by himself) and we were only here 6 days (we were gone the other 4). I think all that caffeine is what kept him so active.
I was able to hug "my baby" every day, as much as I wanted. He never complained. He probably hasn't had so many kisses in his entire lifetime! I will miss him, but will hold close to my heart all the time we were able to spend together. Him and Jamison both have agreed to come back in 2 and a half years, so we can do it all again.
So, who's the next grandchild ready for "Grandma's Great Adventure"?

Dad on Facebook
I just got a call from dad. We got him a new monitor for his computer last week, and got him hooked up to Facebook. He was calling because he was having problems signing on. Not to Facebook, but the internet itself. He has dialup, so it takes awhile.
So, if you see a friend request from "Janitor Joe", that's Grandaddy Joe. When people call him at work trying to sell him something, they always ask if he is the owner. Instead of saying "yes", he tells them he is the janitor, thus the name "Janitor Joe". His work email is albemarlemarine@gmail.com
Isn't it amazing that an 84 year old man can accomplish the things that he does. I just love that man!
