You woke me up for this ? ? ? ?

I received a phone call from Mandy last night asking me if I remember when New Kids on the Block came to Goldsboro. I told her of course I did, and she asked me if Kathy "really" got underwear signed. I told her Yes, both of them did.  She didn't remember, but this is how the story goes.
The NKOB came to Goldsboro and were going to be at the mall. Hundreds and hundreds of people were there. Body guards, security, it was almost impossible to get near the stage. Everyone was wanting autographs, but not a lot were able to go up on stage (same place the stage always is, in front of Belks). So, I decide to have the girls run into Belks and buy two pair of underwear.....(this idea coming from the 60's era)!  When they got back flashing the underwear, the Security guards were quick to escort them up on stage to get them signed.
Now, was this contributing to the delinquency of a minor....perhaps. But it was something I knew they would never forget.....except for Mandy. She had forgotten about it. That wasn't the end of the story. After we left the mall, later that evening we went to the Holiday Inn where they were staying.
The girls ran up and down to see if they could figure out which rooms they were staying in! We parked in the back and waited.....but we never saw them arrive. Oh well, at least it was all exciting.

This is a conversation Mandy was having with some of Kat's friends. They had told her that Kathy was there, and she didn't believe it!  It's amazing how we can remember some of out childhood, but not other parts.

Mandy Pate Gesh ur old. Lol. I'm pretty sure Judy didn't let us out of the house for that.

Jack Update

Jack is hanging in there. I had to leave him yesterday to go do my volunteer work. When I got back home, I realized I had forgotten to put up the gate. He was able to roam the house, and so far, he didn't damage a thing. He was able to "hold it in", and when I carried him out, he was able to produce 2-3 ounces of urine without straining or doing the dribble, dribble, dribble.  This was the first time he had accomplished that!

He has not been able to get up in his chair. He jumps, then falls back. Jumps again, and falls again. He refuses to let me pick him up. Today I decided to outsmart him. I took the cushion out of the chair, and covered the bottom with a beach towel.  I walked him over to tell him to "Jump", and yes he Jumped, but at me. I hit the back of the chair, and told him to "Get in your chair". He jumped up, and made it the first time! I reached down to pat him and tell him "good boy", and he almost bit my hand off.  This is the way our relationship goes. Now, when he wants to go outside, he will come rub against my leg like a cat, or sit there and stare at me until I move. But, at least for now, I have him in HIS chair, resting comfortably. He had steak last night for dinner, and fresh gizzards for breakfast.
What more could you possibly ask for in life???? He has totally given up the bacon....Dr's orders!

Forget Jack........ I have problems of my own! ! ! !

I am sitting here patiently doing my taxes......making sure everything is entered correctly, and then this pops up! Jesus bejeezus ......what is going on?

I thought Jack was stressful enough. This is enough to kill an old woman. Sure hope Trump's 15 per cent tax rate comes soon! Turbo tax obviously does NOT like a Mac!

Jack Update

Jack is hanging in there. His little male body part is about the size of a cucumber Sherrill said. I think it's more like a Sharpie Marker.
We are still having problems with him eating, and taking his meds. Last night Sherrill hid his meds in 3 gizzards, and he ate them. This morning he found the pill in his gizzards and wouldn't eat them. Mid morning I took some peanut butter, tried to roll it in a ball, put a pill in it, and rolled it in powdered sugar to hold it together.
Guess What....... he ate it.  Sherrill went and made him 2 more with other pills, and slowly but surely he got them down.  It will soon be time for his dinner time meds. Not quite sure what we are going to
hide them in this time.
He has enjoyed spending time out side today. He wants to go out every hour. He is on blood pressure medicine now, so when you gotta go, you gotta go!
His pain patch is still sticking to the back of his leg. The bandage on his other foot has already fallen off. No water or bathing for him until he goes back to the vet. So, I guess he will be just a wild haired dog until then!
Sherrill is still stressing out, and is grouchy. He walks around talking to Jack, to himself, and to the evil spirits I think. I keep asking him who is he talking to, and he just says "No One". Yes, the old man is getting a little more and more crazy as the days go by.
All and all, it's been a pretty peaceful day.

DNA news

So, here is my newest DNA breakdown. Now I see why Sherrill doesn't like me very much.
Between the West African, Central and South African, and East African.....although it is only 3 percent..... that is just too much for him to take. His prejudices do run deep!

Sister of mine, you have got to do this DNA testing. Then we can find out what made you so "bossy" as a child!

Jack is HOME......

Sherrill picked up Jack this afternoon. It was NOT a good reunion. One of Sherrill's workers was with him, so he drove the car, and Jack rode in Sherrill's lap. Well, tried to ride in his lap. I don't think Sherrill realizes how tender Jack's abdomen is, and when he picks him up, he just grabs him under the belly like he always does.

After about 30 minutes of being home, and Jack crying nonstop, Sherrill yells out, "I can't take this anymore, that dog has cried for 2 1/2 hours straight....I should have had him put to sleep!" I asked him did he not realize before the surgery that Jack would have a tough recovery. He admitted that he did not.  Jack cried so much, his breathing became labored, so I called back up to the hospital. I was talking to the Dr and Sherrill left the room and went to the pantry. When Jack heard the door open, he stopped his crying and funny breathing so he could hear where Sherrill was. When Sherrill walked back in the room, he started it all up again. I told the Dr what Jack had done and Yes, Jack was playing us again! The Dr assured us that he had given Jack extra pain meds to travel home with, and he should be resting. So, I told Sherrill to get him some water, take him out to pee, and bring him back to me. I had taken his bed and put it in a clothes basket. That way when we needed to move him from room to room we wouldn't have to touch his incision.

So, he came back inside, and laid in the clothes basket beside me. I rubbed his head and talked to him.  When he started growling at me, I knew he was doing better, and he went on to sleep. Sherrill was able to rest about an hour, then the old boy was up again wanting to go out. This time Grandma Cat saw him, and wouldn't even go near him. I guess she knows something is wrong. I think she was hoping to move on into Jack's place!
They both went to bed about an hour ago. Jack has a pain patch on that will last until Wednesday.
I sure hope they both get some rest. Jack has had a lot of water to drink, has thrown up, and has pooped, but still will not eat. His urine flow is restricted somewhat, but that could be where he is swollen from the catheter.

Tomorrow is another day. I just hope the three of us can survive.
By the way, after they went to bed, I moved the furniture and rolled my new rug up. Little "pee pot"
isn't going to mess up my new rug! I might bring down the playpen tomorrow to put him in when he is in the living room.
Any suggestions on how to deal with the recovery... for Jack AND Sherrill!

Jack Update.......

I received a call from NC Vet Hospital this morning before 8:00 AM. They were writing the final reports for Jack before the meeting with the Dr's this morning. Jack made it through the night with
assistance from his oxygen cage, IV's of glucose, and tender loving care. He is still mad about being there, and will NOT let them touch him, unless he is sedated.  He refuses to eat, as I told them he would. She said if all goes well he will be released today.

Then she started some stuff...... they were sending his kidney stones out to be tested to see what type of stones they were.....I was quick to tell her Jack did not care what type of stones they were, I did not care what type stones they were, and if THEY wanted to know, they could pay for that expense.

Then the same goes with the fluid that was in the bladder....it needs to be cultured. We will end up paying for that they say because they need to know what type of med to put him on for a UTI.

Sherrill has arranged his day so he is off working at Bojangles in Sanford today, and will stop by and pick up Jack on the way home.....with a chicken breast in tow. He will probably let him eat it in the hospital parking lot! ! !

So, hopefully the two will be reunited some time this afternoon.  One little dog equals so much drama!

Jack Update......

Kelli..... sorry to take up your birthday space, but there is news to tell.

Jack went through part of his surgery. They were able to get the stones from his bladder, but was not able to do the other things they wanted to.  His blood pressure dropped, blood sugar, and his body was not able to oxygenate his blood. SO..... he is in intensive care for tonight..... in an oxygen cage.
I am sure he loves that!  He already has presented lots of problems with biting the staff. As usual,
Jack rules the roost.  Sherrill took off the afternoon to go spend time with him, but they wouldn't let him back.  Surgery was to have been the first thing this morning, then they changed it until after lunch. They never got around to it until Sherrill agreed to pay an additional 250.00 for the anesthesiologist over time. The old man wants his baby HOME.

So, all of this means....NO MORE surgery for old Jack dog.  He will be happy though. One of the things they couldn't do was castrate him...... so Sherrill and Jack will both be happy.

Happy Birthday Kelli

Jack Update..........

Well, Jack missed his party.  I cooked all day for the two of them, and a guest. But, as soon as Sherrill came home and walked Jack, he loaded him up and carried him back to the Vet (he had just been there Monday).

Jack is presently at NC State Vet Hospital resting comfortably. He will be having surgery in the morning to remove stones from his urethrea, bladder, and kidneys. They already shot the one back up that was in his penis.

It's been a long day, and you can imagine your dad's mood. He complained the entire way there and back.  I'll keep you posted on how things are going.

Be sure to say a little prayer for Jack. He is going to need all the help he can get!

Happy Birthday Jack

Today is Jack's birthday.  Happy Birthday Jack.
