Old man and the Dr

After two days of deprivation (trying to beat the A1C test), no sweets or carbs, the old man went to the Dr. to find out his results. His blood sugar was about where he had hoped.
The Dr told him, "You are doing GREAT! You only gained 4 pounds since your last visit (3 months ago".  Sherrill asked me, that's pretty good, right?
Sure Sherrill, keep it up, and within a year you will only gain 16 pounds.
And then he tells me, "I think you need to start steaming my vegetables", to which I reply,
"No, you just need to eat two plates of food at dinner instead of three!"

Eli in San Francisco

A group of kids from Eli's school has gone to San Francisco to see a performance of Phantom of the Opera. While there, they will be visiting Fisherman's Wharf, and going to Six Flags. Look how grown up he is, hanging out with the ladies! !

Christmas in Cuba? ? ?

I was talking with my little brother last night and I told him I wanted to go to Cuba. He said he too had thought about going at Christmas to visit some orphanages. (Every year he carries gifts to three orphanages in Mexico)  So, now I have a new project to work on, "Christmas in Cuba". I will have to renew my passport, apply for a visa, file a travel affidavit, and book a flight! I forgot to ask Sherrill if he wanted to go......I just told him I wanted to go.

SShhhh Don't tell Sherrill

Sherrill just came in the house and grabbed the kids little plastic grabber so he could pick up pine cones. He was quick to remind me that I should buy myself one like Susan has. (Blake had told us Grandma Sue has a REAL one that she uses). All we have is the kiddie version.

So, AMAZON was just one click away, and I ordered him one for his birthday (which by the way is in 3 days).  I had ordered him a chair cover with dog feet print all over it, but it hasn't arrived.
They old man should be happy! We got his birthday cake this morning so we could snack all weekend, and he will have a REAL grabber.......something he has always wanted! Now the toy one can go back to the toy box.

Old folks can be happy with just the simple little things in life!

Blake

Look at that handsome "Little Man".
He's got him some "church clothes" now!

Last night I came in from work, tired, and plopped down in my chair.  I looked around and didn't see
my glasses. I looked up at Sherrill and told him, "If "Little Man" was here, he would go get my glasses for me!" When I move my glasses around, they are either in one of three places, night stand, desk, or the table beside my chair. Blake can always find them really fast. Oh how I needed him last night!

5 Hours of Debate

Yesterday afternoon I sat back in my chair with my feet propped up and started watching the debates.

I think I liked the first one the best with just 4 guys. Lindsey Graham to me came out on top. I might be a little prejudice though because he comes from South Carolina.

The second debate was a little better than the first one this group had a few weeks ago. Carly Fiorna did pretty good against the men, holding her own. I am just not sure a CEO should just move over to the presidency just yet.

Just think, we have 14 months of this stuff to go. And, the robo calls will begin soon.

Brooklyn and Braylee now weighing in at a whopping 2.7 pounds each.

Kelli has set up a baby registry at walmart.com under the name Kelli Bonner.  So, take a look and see  what you think.  I gave her a hard time because not a lot of stuff is listed.

I receive a text at 3:48 AM this morning from my loving grandson Chris. He sends me a short video of him and his friends at the game. How sweet!

  Where do you think Chris is?

  Last night he camped out for the game. Well, he TRIED to camp out. Him 

  and his room mate threw their mattresses down three stories, loaded them   

  up and carried them to the stadium to wait in line and sleep. The police came

  by, kicked Chris on his butt and told him they could't have mattresses. They 

  carried them back home, got a few ZZz's and went back and got their place 

  in line. He just called a little while ago, and they are painting their body. He 

  told me to watch the game and look for someone on the front rows with

  painted bodies. That would be my Chris!   Don't you just love the things

  kids learn in college? ! ?

What's for Dinner ? ? ?

Does this place look familiar. It's just down the road and around the corner. I've been to funerals here, 

decorated it for weddings, had baseball practice here, and you name it. This is Providence Methodist church. The thing I like MOST about this place is the dinners they sell every September at their Fall Festival. And guess what...... tonight is the night!

I just received a call from Sherrill telling me not to cook because he is picking up our plates on his way home. They have the very best turkey, dressing, yams, green beans, and cake. The dressing is like your Grandma use to make.....that is if you had a Grandma that did it the "old" way, not like Grandma Cat that opts for Stove Top Stuffing!

There will be a lot of moaning and groaning in the McKeel house tonight. There is so much food, you just HAVE to eat it all! Wish you were here to get a plate!

Blake spent the weekend with us. We carried him to mom and dad's on Saturday and he had a blast.
On the way home he kept referring to that "Old Grandma". I asked him if he was a talking about me, and he said "NO, your MOM." He told me that she was so old grandaddy should just take her to the back yard and drive the tractor over her. Then I realized, he is at the age where he even thinks his Grandma Wendy is old. I had to tell the story to mom of course, and she got a good laugh out of it.
Grandaddy had a really good chuckle!
