What am I growing?

Doesn't like a lot of hot sunshine.

What am I growing. I first thought it was a red maple (it never turned red). Then I started comparing the leaves, and it looked like something called purple kush (a potent form of medical marijuana). It also could be a Japanese maple. The leaves are 5 slender points and grows on a stalk looking thing. We have been growing these on the porch for 2 years or so, and really don't know WHAT they are.
