Kayla graduates today!
Does this child look familiar? I guess you may not have seen her before. Remember your cousin Jeff McKeel? This is his oldest daughter Kayla. She graduates tonight from Wayne Early Middle. That's the high school on Wayne Community's campus where you earn college credits while in high school. It's the same school Christa goes to. I haven't seen her since MaKeel died. I do send her cards every now and then. Cute isn't she? Looks a little like her dad!

School's out.....almost
School is OUT for Tristen and Nate.
Last day of school will be Friday for the McEwan kids.
I think Cameron tracks out this week, then goes back in July and carries Olivia with him.
June 7th will be the last day for the McKeel kids.
I'm not sure about the Rollers.
Yeaahhh for summer!

This is what Sto did at school today!
Yes, this is how Kat dressed Chris for school this morning. She even made his cape!
This week is Senior week at Chris' school. The kids were allowed to dress up. Yes, this is my baby, Superman! One of his friends dressed just like him. Now, this is the same child that is barely passing Algebra II. My, my, what is this world coming to? Hope Superman can pass an Algebra test!
Cute Chris, cute!

Mmm Mmm Good
It all started with a recipe I found for a banana cake. It looked like banana bread almost, but cooked in cake pans, with a cinnamon buttercream frosting. James came over the day before Mother's day to see what I wanted. I told him, "There's a recipe on the desk, get Abby to make that for me". He looked at the recipe, and returned it to the desk. The next day he brought me in a bunch of bananas along with other gifts. The bananas sat on the dining room table to ripen. Finally by Saturday I made me some banana bread (and 6 muffins). I decided against the cake because I wasn't in the mood for anything real sweet.
Here's the recipe I used
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/8 t salt
1 t soda
2 cups flour
3 large bananas
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
Cream together butter and sugar. Add one egg at time. Sift dry ingredients together. Slowly add to mixture. Stir in bananas and chopped pecans.
Pour into well greased pan and bake at 325 for 50-60 minutes. ( It said to cook for 1 hr and 15 mins)
I used some of the batter for muffins, so it took less cooking time.
It was deeeeelicious. The only thing I would change is next time substitute walnuts. Give it a try.
Now, if I were the health nut, I could have used applesauce instead of margarine. But, you know me!

Seiryu
I think I figured it out. I think it might be a seiryu. And, I think I will plant them just like in the first picture, in the back yard in front of the fence. They need to be in partial shade, and the back yard is real shady. I just can't figure out how Japanese trees ended up in NC woods. I still haven't decided if I should leave them in pots, or plant them. My friend gave 3 of us two trees each, and my two are the only ones that survived. I'm not sure how they will like the back yard!

Any suggestions? Purple Kush and Japanese maple pictures to follow.
NO.....I am NOT crazy
I kept on researching, and this is what I found.
They ARE so much alike.
Mine has more zagged edges like the pot plant.
Just wait 'til the fall, we WILL find out!

Isaac Update
Isaac is out of the hospital and on the way to Kathy's friend's home. They will be spending the night there in Vegas. I hope he is not too sore or in pain. I know he will be happy to see Eli and ready to watch Yo Gabba Gabbba. He was able to watch it at the hospital. Glad Kat has a lot of electronic devices.
That's about all I know.
Isaac Update
Heart Cath is over. Looks like Isaac will need a new heart valve.
More info to come.
More info to come.
Medtronic Melody® Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve - H080002
New Humanitarian Device Approval
What is it?
The Medtronic Melody® Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve is a manufactured replacement pulmonary heart valve that had already been previously repaired. The pulmonary valve is one of four valves in the human heart that help pump blood throughout the body. The Melody valve is made from a cow’s jugular vein valve that is sewn into a small metal stent (scaffolding). The Melody valve comes in sizes 18, 20, and 22mm diameters and has a stent length of 28mm. The Medtronic Ensemble® Transcatheter Valve Delivery System is a catheter (long tube with small diameter) that helps guide the Melody into the heart. The Ensemble delivery system has catheters with balloon sizes of 18, 20, and 22mm.
How does it work?
The Melody heart valve is first crimped down onto the Ensemble delivery catheter’s balloon and then is fished through a vein in the groin and into the right side of the heart where it is placed into position within the pulmonary valve. The small balloon is then inflated to open up the Melody valve into position, the catheter is removed from the body, and the Melody immediately becomes the new pulmonary valve.
When is it used?
The Melody is used to repair a stenosed (blocked) or regurgitant (leaky) pulmonary heart valve that has previously been replaced to correct congenital (birth) heart defects. The Melody is put in place without using open heart surgery and while the heart is beating.
What will it accomplish?
The Melody will replace a poorly functioning, previously replaced pulmonary valve in children and adults who might otherwise need multiple open heart surgeries in their lifetime. The Melody will repair pulmonary valve function without open heart surgery and may lengthen the time until a patient needs additional open heart surgery.
Please Bless Baby Isaac
And Heavenly Father, please bless Isaac before during and after his heart catheterization.
And bless his mom too, and the doctor!

I want...I want....I want
In the past I have collected such things as towels, lighthouses, fabric, etc. Now I have decided to go with something small and inexpensive. I am going to start collecting BUTTONS. Not just normal white shirt buttons, vintage buttons, novelty buttons, fun buttons. Now, I'm not sure what I will do with all of these buttons, but I am going to collect them. SO, the next time you find yourself in a second hand store, or a flea market, or a fabric shop, please check and see what kind of old buttons they have, or new fun buttons. I'm sure the grandkids will find something fun to do with them!
Remember now, the word for today is BUTTONS!

It's about that time.......
Time to head to the beach.
Is she going swimming, or just dancing?
Either way, it looks like she is headed towards the sun!
Sherrill has been promising a beach trip since last September. There's always something else to do.
Maybe this year!

Happy Birthday "MaKeel"
Today would have been Grandma McKeel's 106th birthday (Yes, that is one hundred and six). Now, there are some discrepancies in her date of birth. Social Security Administration has her date of birth as 1906. Aunt Pauline, her sister in law, grew up saying that they were 10 years apart in age (Matilda was older). Aunt Pauline was born in 1916. At the time of her death, some one reported she was born in 1907, so that is what appears on her death certificate, as well as her tombstone. Grandma McKeel died Nov 22, 2004. We all loved her, and miss her.
Happy Birthday Matilda McKeel!
