Daffodil Festival 2012

Today was the daffodil festival. Meghan and Seth took the money they had saved and bought themselves each a marshmallow shooter. They have shot miniature marshmallows all over my house this afternoon.
They weren't sure if they wanted to go to the festival, so I went to you tube and found a video of last years festival. At the 3:39 point, Abby appears.
So, if you want to see Abby in the video go to youtube, look for daffodil Festival, and sit back and enjoy!

Good Morning Soccer Kids

Here are the recent pictures of our soccer players Cameron and Olivia.

Time to paint!

Sherrill is home today, so he is painting his room. Not by choice however.
The floor man comes April 9th to put down hardwood floors in the living room, dining room, hall, and Sherrill's room. If there is enough flooring they will do the kitchen. He wasn't too happy when I told him his carpet had to come out. I was going to put down vinyl in his room so I could scrub it. He didn't like that idea, and decided to go with the hardwood. Little did he know that new flooring also means new paint job, and new as he calls it "bed clothes". Leave it to Sherrill to go to the barn and pull out cans of paint left over from other jobs. The first can he brought in was was like a fudge brown. It was yucky. Then he brought in a dark beige, almost like a mocha. It looks pretty good. I can't complain. It will look a lot better than that beige that was all over the house. All the other rooms have been repainted now except my room. It remains that same beige. That's a project for another day!
And Cindy, I am even cleaning out his closet! I do believe you are the child that use to clean closets every time she cleans up. I believe in cleaning out closets when I can't cram anything else into them! So, back I go working on cleaning out his file cabinet, yes, we hide it in the closet (or use to).
And James, I hope I find the combination to the safe!

Thanksgiving 2012

Well....there's ONLY 8 months until Thanksgiving...and it's time to discuss our plans.
(and I think we need another family picture...we're missing kids in this one)

I don't really have any yet....so, we thought (the party planning committee of Wendy and Kathy) we should discuss it.

DO YOU GUYS WANT TO GET TOGETHER FOR THANKSGIVING 2012?

huh?

chime in....

Can you save money in time?

Where would you like to go?

Would you be willing to chip in for the house?

NOW.....where should we go??

I just put that map up JUST in case you didn't know where everyone lived. As you can see...we're equally divided..that's why Branson worked out so well. No one REALLY had to fly...it was all possible to get there by car.

Let's use our imagination and find a SUPER fun, unique place to go. Beach, lake, mountains...it's all up in the air.

As you find places, houses....whatever, just put it in the comment section. OR....if you really want to sell us all on it....make a post and sell it. We're not getting any younger...let's all decide to do it or not.

Hunger games!

Well I went to the Hunger games with some friends. Its the best movie ever made. No arguments. I love it. But there is a lot of sad parts when some of the people die its sad. -Tristen

Lauren's Masterpiece

This morning I went to clean up Sherrill's bathroom and found this on the mirror. Lauren is always coloring pictures and taping them up for us. I was quite surprised to see this one. She must have made it this past weekend when she was here. A birthday message for Jack......how cute!

Another day with Olivia!

The rest of the story!

Just wanted to make sure you got the rest of the story. Wendy posted this about the last post.

Oh yes.....Olivia "being the sassy diva she is" informed us that she wanted to play soccer. We thought, yeah right, this coming from a child that doesnt like to sweat or get dirty, but we signed her up. The first few practices and she was hooked. "mom, I love soccer, not as much as dance but I love soccer". Our first game was on on last saturday. She was ssssooo excited and ready to play. General rules explained and then "Olivia rules explained". (ie. no pushing and pass). She figures out early on that her teams mates are much on scoring so she takes it upon herself to score each time her team gets the ball...total 5 at half time. Second half comes and Olivia is on the field waiting..we are conversing with other parents. Olivia is coming off field mouth closed (unusual). When she gets to us she says mom so and so knocked my tooth out. She opens her mouth and sure enough her bottom tooth is out and the one next to it is loose. I run onto the field looking for a tooth. (yes we found it) Her team mate's "bone" hit her mouth and knocked it out. She went back in and scored three more times. Picture to follow. It was the talk of the whole association because the next day when we got there everyone was asking if we heard about a little girl that had a tooth knocked out and Olivia just smiles and says it was me.

Olivia

Oh, I forgot to tell you the story.......well, I don't really know the story, I would just be spreading gossip. Here goes anyway.
Sherrill was talking to Olivia the other night, and Olivia was telling him about loosing a tooth, and the tooth fairy coming. When he talked to Wendy to get more details he learned it was not the regular "pulling it out with a string" or "wiggling method" for removing a tooth. Seems as though Olivia's method of removing a tooth involved soccer, and a little boy's head.
I can't wait to hear the full details, and see a picture!

Birthday Cake for Jack

Mandy went to the Piggly Wiggly Saturday to pick up Jack's birthday cake. The girls came in to eat, but the boys stayed outside to play. Carter came in later to get him "a plate to go".
It was just so beautiful outside Saturday. We raked leaves, burned leaves, and watch Mandy work! We spent the day in the fun and sun. Too bad it wasn't at the beach!

Dad hard at work

Yard work day

Handcarved Turkish Puzzle Box

I have one of these. When I was in high school I had a pen pal stationed in Turkey. We dated a for a while when he returned home, but then I went off to college, and he went to work at the Pentagon. The only other time I have seen one of these was on the Regis show. Someone had given Regis one, and he was trying to figure out how to open it. I just keep mine unlocked. It stays on my dresser, filled with my "important stuff". It has a secret compartment, the key is hidden, as well as the lock. If something happens to me, and the box is locked, please don't break into it. I love my little box, and want it to be cherished.
This is the description I found online......
To open our Turkish and Moroccan puzzle boxes, you must first find the key.  Then, you have to find the lock!  Only 5 moves, but most people find these puzzle boxes to be quite tricky.
The Turkish puzzle box comes in either Walnut or Juniper wood.

Happy Birthday Nate!

Happy Birthday to YOU
Happy Birthday to YOU
Happy birthday dear Nate,
Happy Birthday to YOU.

Nate, it took FOREVER to get all of your pictures in one place. Remember one of the times you were here we put your photos in a book, and Tristen's in a book. Well, I can't find your book. So. I had to go through boxes, photo albums, and digital files to find pictures of you at all ages. I have discovered that you are one of the most well rounded, versatile of the grandkids. Just look at what all you are doing in these pictures: cooking, four wheeling, hiking, jump roping, fire burning, baby sitting, fishing, eating, joking, wrestling, and sleeping. You sure have one busy life! Happy Birthday, we love you.
