trouble
yep, me and dad are in trouble. we left the house this morning and left the kids sleeping with mom at home. :) we just went to drop my car off to get looked at but we didn't tell mom we were leaving. i think we learned our lession and won't do it anymore.
but when we got back, Abby called and invited the kids over for a playdough play date. the kids all had fun. Izzy saw my itouch and started dancing around and having fun. thanks Abby for letting us come play. Sorry we didn't get in the hot tube after naptime but I'm sure it was raining at your house also. :)
Now we are getting ready to head off to scouts. seth is soooo excited.
if i don't make another post this week, we hope everyone has a Happy July 4th. :)

It was a quiet day
All is well. The kids went out this morning to play in the hot tub while Sherrill was out passing out business cards. This afternoon Mandy went and got Seth's book to start
scouts. His first cub scout meeting is Tuesday night. It's time for hot dogs now, then out to splash around some more. Everyone is happy, and no one in trouble. Can you believe that?!
Girl dog is feeling a little under the weather. She's kind of pitiful. Just lays around. This 95-98 degree weather is rough on her. Jack is as mean as ever.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Okay, so if you call home, you may hear a story about dad being really sick and the house almost burning up.
I didn't make dad sick. We still aren't sure about what happened but he's fine now.
As for blowing up the house, I did that. Not on purpose!! I turned the stove on to cook grits this morning, came in the living room and within 5 mins, dad called me in the kitchen and I had turned the wrong burner on. The burner that I had turned on had two burner covers on it. Needless to say, I have to buy mom two new burner covers. :) opps!!!!

Seth .....
Seth and Meghan decided to go grocery shopping with me this morning and said they weren't hungry before we left so I didn't make them eat. When we get to the exit to Walmart, Seth tells me that he thought I would fetch him some breakfast after we left Walmart. My son doesn't talk like that. I kept laughing at him and had him call Dan and tell him. He didn't understand that he's starting to talk like people in the south. Dan told him he was takling like a hick. :)
Okay, thats all for now. I need to figure out lunch for us.
later peoples!!

No news
No news for today. Nothing earth shattering. Slept in late. Worked at church 1-5.
Home for dinner. Watching TV.
Meghan and Seth have been playing. Seth has his PSP and Meghan has the itouch watching Dora and Sponge Bob. Mandy is chillin' on the couch watching TV. Sherrill and Jack are in their favorite place......the bathroom! All is well.

home tomorrow for sure!!
I promise mom that I will be home tomorrow!!
We left Chicago around 10 am this morning. They needed to put a part in my car and we had to wait for it to come in. Since we left late, I decided that we would listen to mom and spend the night somewhere. Also, I decided, with a little help from mom, that I should stop by Washington DC while on my way home. So tonight, we are in a little town called Breezewood, PA. It's going to take me 2 hours to get to the National Air and Space Museum. Seth really wants to go see the monuments and museums so we should have fun. We are only going to stay a few hours but he's never been and is really excited.
I'll post pics sometime. But mom, I'll be home before dad goes to bed. I'd hate for the guard dog to wake him up. :)

Ground Hog --2 Grandaddy Joe -- 0

The battle has begun. The groundhog is after Grandaddy Joe's vegetables. He's been eating the watermelon plants, and has gone for a few beans. Added to that is the doe and fawn that has been eating the corn. Grandaddy is putting up and electric fence around the corn, but the old groundhog just has his way with the other vegetables. He has tried to catch him with a rabbit box, but that doesn't work. I have a wire box I am going to take him. I had to research to see what groundhogs eat, and it seems their favorite food is apple slices. I didn't even know we had groundhogs in NC. Dad said the governor had some sent in because they are such an endangered species. If dad gets his hands on this one....He is in danger!
Inheritance
There was a cute saying in Sunday's newspaper. It went something like " The best inheritance you can give your child is time with them every day." I really like that.
So all of you moms and dads, be sure to spend lots of time with your little ones.
That's all for now!

Now that I have a laptop again, I finally got the camera away from Dan long enough to download pics tonight. Most are of Christmas and our trip to Chicago. They are all on my fb page but here are some.
We went to the zoo again today and Meghan found her Flamingo again. She loves flamingos!!
We are leaving Chicago heading home tomorrow so we will see when I get there. I can't leave early so I may have to spend the night somewhere. See everyone soon.
New pictures

Sherrill is always slow about opening his mail. He loves going to the mailbox, but once he gets inside the house he just plops it down on the desk. I pay the bills, so he doesn't open anything. He looks through to see what's there before he brings it in, but just does the plop and drop. Yesterday when Wendy called and asked if he had received her card, he had to go to the desk to find it. If I had known pictures were in it, I would have had him open it the day he got it! With everyone doing digital pictures and emails these days, it's a real privilege to get actual printed photos.
So, I had to share them with everyone......Cameron and Olivia. Aren't they just the cutest?

It was a Wonderful Day........Until.......
It started out to be a wonderful day. I got up early, ate breakfast and sat down at the sewing machine. Sherrill was in his room with Jack and the world was quiet. And then it happened. While I was machine quilting a table runner, my hands got in the way and the needle went right through my index finger on my left hand, right at the first joint. ALL THE WAY through. It broke the needle off. "SSHHEERRRIILLLLLLL" get me a wet wash cloth quick! I thought I was going to pass out. Blood was squirting out on both sides of my finger. I squeezed it tight to stop the bleeding, and thought I was going to pass out. Sherrill came with the wash cloth, and I didn't know whether to put it on my face or finger. I wiped down my face right quick, and tied the wash cloth around my finger. Sherrill got me the phone and I tried to call Abby. Her phone was off, so I sent Sherrill over to get her. She comes over, and we are trying to figure out what is going on. The needle on the machine is broken off, but we can't find the sharp end of it.
There is a straight darkened area in my finger, but we can't figure out if it is blood or the needle Abby asks for a flash light
and Sherrill goes to get one. Little did we know, but Carter runs home to get his small laser light too. You could put the laser light on the back side of my finger and it would shine through, showing shadows inside. Abby said, "You know if that needle is in there they are going to have to cut your finger open to get it out". So, we start looking for the needle. I had already taken out the bobbin, the bobbin case, the case holder, anything removable I removed it. Then I told Sherrill I was going to turn the machine over. I started tilting it back and he told me to stop. He found it! Boy was I glad. I had just put in a new needle, so it was really sharp. Sherrill and Abby saved the day! I'm sure you are wondering why would I call Abby. The reason is, once you hit 40 your eyes don't work like they did at 20. I knew if I stood up, I would NEVER find the broken needle. And, I knew Abby had the patience to help me look for it. The holes have already closed up, and the finger is just a little sore. Now, what did I learn from this? I learned I am NOT supposed to sew on the Sabbath Day, and I need to wear my glasses and pay a little more attention to what I am doing. Oh well, back to the table runner tomorrow. Thanks Carter, Abby and Sherrill for your help.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my dad. I don't know when this was taken, looks like Korean War era, but I'll ask him later. EVERYBODY knows how much I love my dad.
Happy Father's Day to ALL my sons in laws. Thank you for taking care of my daughters and my grandchildren.
Happy Father's Day too to my son James, a great example of what a father should be.
And last but not least, Happy Father's Day to Sherrill. Without him this family would not be a family.

Etsy Sellers
For you girls that sell things on Etsy, I just received a couple of templates I bought, and included in them was a small sized business card called a "MOO" card.
It was tied with red and white string, and made quite an impression. I don't know what you use when you ship your items out, but you might want to take a look at these.

Fun Fun Saturday

I'm playing around today. I worked on my table runner for awhile. Then I decided to download all the slides Mandy has scanned from my laptop to my imac. These are a couple that caught my eye. The first one is of my little brother Larry, pulling Poppy in the trailer. I don't know if it was Poppy 1 or Poppy 2. Living out in the country, you have to find something to do for fun. On the horse is Larry and Joey of course. And Larry on the tractor. Larry HATED the garden, so it's kind of funny seeing him on the tractor.
I'll post more pictures as time goes on. Have a nice HOT day everyone!

Another present

Today was to be my day to sleep in. I get a phone call bright and early telling me UPS was bringing a package, and someone had to be home to sign for it, or it would be redelivered on Monday. It finally arrived, and look what I got. A new computer....an imac. Wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, and an all in one. There's not a separate CPU unit, it's just this big flat screen. How nice is that?
Sherrill came home....."What's that". I know it's NOT a computer." "No Sherrill, it's a TV". He just walks out of the room. "You don't need another computer". All my kids know I do NOT like accepting large gifts, but this one, I think I'll keep. Thanks for my imac and the book Macs for Dummies. I've been reading it already!
Corn, Corn, Corn

Yesterday on my way to church the man down the road was selling corn, as he does every year. I called Sherrill and asked him to pick up about 36 ears on his way home.
Well, after 5 hours of working at church I come home to 100 ears of corn. Just what every woman wants! It's 6:00, dinner has not been cooked, so I decided to just wait and do the corn tomorrow. I lay it all out on the counter top so it will stay cool, and slowly one by one, they start to appear.....the little black bugs that hide in corn. And then there were a couple of worms. Oh well, I knew right then that corn had to be shucked last night. So, I called for help. The same ones that had helped last year. We got all of the corn shucked, and silked. Right now it is in the pans on the stove.
Thanks "Little helpers". And Lauren......sorry about those worms:0)

Party's over!

The last of the party people just left. Poor little Carter hung out the longest. We partied from about 10:00 this morning on and off all day long. It was just a WONDERFUL day! Thanks for all of the birthday wishes.
We started the morning off with cake around 10:00 AM. Mandy has the pictures in her phone. Mandy and her kids left a little after 12:00 noon to head for Chicago, and Lauren, Carter, and Isabella went home for lunch and a nap. The house was quiet, and I was able to get some sewing in. James, Abby and the kids came back over tonight after dinner. I didn't have to cook. It was hamburger steak from Andy's! It's nearly 9:00, that means time for another slice of cake. The house is cool, quiet, and peaceful. Jack and Sherrill aren't even around.
Hope everyone's day has been a good one. And, a personal note to my sister, Thanks for calling. You ARE a special sister.
Happy Birthday MOM !!
We love you!! These are the only pics I could get. You wouldn't leave me alone long enough to get more!! :) I hope you have a great day.
