I found these in Google Photos, taken in 2001.  Boy was this a blast from the past. I didn't even take the pictures. I must have stolen them from Kat's camera. I always like to download her photos to one of my computers, because I know she will eventually loose them!

What was mummy up to all last week??

So if you tried calling mom last week I'm sure she seemed distracted.  She kept telling me about the online stuff she was looking at.  Today I saw an article about it and now realize why she was OBSESSED with it all week.

Hey Judy Pate.......

This morning Sherrill was gone, I had the washer and dryer at full speed, and I was online doing some research. All of a sudden I heard a yell, "HEY Judy Pate". I looked out on the patio, and yes, there was a man standing at the back door. "Judy Pate"....I haven't been that person since 1980.
I go to the door, and there stands Sherrill's old friend, yes, Jimmy Daniels!

Now, to let Jimmy in the house, it would have taken a few hours to get him out. So when he asked where was Sherrill, I was quick to tell him that he was at the Croom Drive house with his "other" woman. He looked at me as if he was thinking, "Oh, I am so Sorry". I explained that Sherrill's other woman was living here, but he was trying to get her set up on Croom Drive. I told him to get over quick, and he could see for himself. Him and Sherrill both drove up a few minutes later.  They spent over 2 hours out in the yard talking, just enough time for me to get my work done! There was all kinds of laughing, yelling, and man slapping going on!

After Jimmy left I told Sherrill when Phyllis moves out, I was going to invite Jimmy to come stay with us for 4 months. "Fat Boy" hit the ceiling. He said NO MORE MOVE IN GUESTS.
I'm still thinking about having Jimmy show up with his suitcase in hand...... just to see how Sherrill reacts!

Finally ! ! ! !

Finally.... it's all over.
I made my LAST visit to the dentist this afternoon. They had to replace a filling that just Happened
to break apart while they were cleaning my teeth a few weeks ago. I told the Dr I did NOT want to see him for at least 2 years!

The carpet/vinyl man is at Croom Drive today installing everything. After that we will be ready to start moving Phyllis in.  Pretty much everything is new from top to bottom. There are a couple of light fixtures we did not replace. New stove still has to be purchased, and she will be using her new stainless steel bottom drawer refrigerator.  I am ready to do some spring cleaning and get my house cleaned out and put back together.

Perhaps now Sherrill will be able to get a little rest.
As for me..... next project....... taxes!

Older.......But No Wiser

It all started about three weeks ago when I went to have my teeth cleaned. Oh NO......there was a cavity, at the surface of the gum.....how did that happen? This required an extra set of X-rays, because the ones I got 2 years ago that were still good, I had carried to an oral surgeon, and left them with him! So, more $ $ $ $'s.
Yep, that same old wisdom tooth was still impacted, and infected. So, NOW I have to get it out, no choice! A week later I am back in the office, after a weeks of antibiotics, and with the jack hammer running at full speed, part of that little baby was removed. The roots had to remain in tact because the sensitivity of their location to an artery and nerves. So now, another round of antibiotics.
By Friday I am feeling tired, and coughing. By Saturday I know it is bronchitis. By Sunday I am at the Dr. office getting even more antibiotics, prednisone, cough syrup, and the works. Twenty four hours later, I can finally take a somewhat deep breath and not feel like I am coughing a lung up.
Today is another rest day. Tomorrow I go to work for  3 hours, then back to the Dr to get stitches removed on Wednesday.
I am ready for a "Stacation". Stay at home and do NOTHING! ! !

My bum knee has slowed down the Christmas shopping, so some presents will be late. I still don't really know yet what a meniscus is.

Jimmy an Me

About 10 years ago I met Jimmy. Jimmy was at a workshop I attended, and I invited him to the Family History Center. He came the very next week, thus beginning our friendship. During the course of our research we discovered Dr Dave working on the same family line. One problem though, Dr Dave was white, and Jimmy was mixed race. I contacted Dr Dave, which again became an admirable acquaintance (he is really smart)! Since 2012 Dr Dave, Jimmy, and myself have worked on this family line. I provided all of the research from NC, Jimmy and his family provided family stories and DNA, and Dr Dave put it all together with a professional geneticist.

Over the past couple of years Jimmy has been stricken with Alzheimers, his daughter who was part of our research team has passed away, and research has slowed to a crawl. Until last night!

I received an email from Dr Dave to inform me that he would be presenting our research at the Southern California Genealogical Society’s Annual Conference in June, and invited me and Jimmy to attend.

Presentation Description At Emancipation Henderson Dowell of Wilkes County, North Carolina, was 20 years old and enslaved by Pricilla Dowell. His living descendants are mixed African-American and European-American. Did his paternal ancestors come to America from Europe or from Africa? 

I know I won't be able to go, but I know it will be recorded. Helping someone else sometimes ends to be very rewarding.
