Seth and School

Seth survived the first day of school! The bus came by about an hour earlier than expected, so Mandy had to rush him to school at the last minute. He got home and FORGOT the number the lunch room lady assigned him to get his lunches. He FORGOT to pay for his lunch. But oh, guess what, we did find 1/2 of the yellow memo pad the lunchroom lady had given him, but guess what was on it.......a girls phone number. Also found were two nicely printed notes.....do you want to be my girlfriend......and I love you I love you. And for your information......she had written YES ! Young love.
Do you remember what it was like?

Seth had to read for 15 minutes tonight, and I don't have any age appropriate books (only kiddie books, or adult books)So, I googled Tom Sawyer and have him reading it. He did get a couple of good laughs already. He's a pretty good reader, much better than I had expected. This should be quite an experience. I told him we would go to the library and get the real book.

Mandy has pics she will post later.
That's all for now. Hope everyone had a great day.

thanks

Computers everywhere!

Wow.....we got it set up. My laptop wasn't compatible with my printer. So Mandy moved my printer to my bedroom and hooked it up to the Mac. So now I have my old faithful and dying computer in the dining room until I can move all the old files. The laptop is on the desk, with no printer attached, and the Mac is in the bedroom with the printer. Mandy has her laptop and printer in the garage. She has a wireless printer though. I have a new Cannon printer in a box in my room that was FREE when I got the slide scanner. Maybe it will hook up to the laptop. Now I will be able to stay up all night and research while Sherrill is sleeping! The light from the dining room keeps Jack awake.

Sherrill had left this morning with instructions for me to send out a couple of faxes, and the fax machine wouldn't work, so Mandy had to fax them from her room. It took me awhile to realize she could do that. Now we have that covered!

School starts tomorrow.....Hip Hip Hooray! The kids have been good today. Seth spent his morning hooked up to video games, and Meghan and Mandy were in their room hanging out. I was able to get a family history book completed.

This was a real interesting family. My Grandma Lessie's 5th great grandfather was married 3 times. One of his wives carried him to court to divorce him. Back then, in the 1700's you had to go before what what now like the legislature. She tells the story of him going off with a bunch of women and bringing home 3 kids by different mothers for HER to raise. Women had NO rights back then. The men would marry the women to get her family's inheritance, then leave them and take what they had. There would been some fighting going on if it had been me.

Out of all the family research I do perhaps the most ironic is when I found out that Kelli's great-grandfather was the dentist that we went to as children. Dr Bonner practiced in Hertford, and he was our dentist for many years. Abby's mom also connected James and Abby as distant cousins.

Oh well, it's time to get to work and get straightened up before the Bossman gets home.
Have a good day everyone.......and watch out for the school buses.

Meg....

So now Meghans favorite food is a Kit Kat but she calls it a kitty cat.  So all I hear lately is "I want a kitty cat."  At first I thought she was trying to tell me she wanted to go see kitty cat.  Yesterday I finally realized what she was telling me.  This child is crazy.

So now for yesterday.  Lauren, Carter and Meghan were outside.  Dad walked out to find the kids throwing pine cones in the road.  He yelled and told them to get out of the road.  And what do the three kids say to papa????  NO!!  So lets just say that made dad even more mad then he was already.  :)  So today, we have to teach Meghan to say YES PAPA.

And finally, Meghan loves everyone.  And she loves everyone that makes her things.  She loves her doll grandma made her.  Her dresses and skirt that Kathy, Christy and Abby have made her.  She doesn't have a favorite but she will always be....

Kathy stem cell studies report

I just read this on my cousin Kathy's caring bridge site.

Monday, August 23, 2010 3:55 PM, EDT
Hi Everyone,

I want to thank all of you for your tremendous support throughout this process of getting stem cells for my illness. I want to let you know some information I had that was under embargo until 3:01pm today (August 23). Now that it is past that time, I am able to let you know that a huge discovery has taken place. At the Proceding for the National Acadamy of Sciences today at 3:01pm, it was announced to the FDA, the CDC, and the NIH that there has been a new discovery of a virus that is the CAUSE of CFS! However, it is NOT XMRV as previously suspected - it is worse. This virus is not a mouse virus nor an ancient germ. It is a HUMAN gamma retrovirus. My spinal fluid tests immediately prior to the first stem cell treatment has been frozen to be tested for this virus. My doctor said, "There is apparently a whole lot more under heaven and earth than XMRV". I am taking an additional supplement that is supposed to educate my immune system cells (now that I actually have some natural killer cells from stem cells) to seek out and destroy this virus. I am feeling the success of that, and am hopeful that I can succeed in all the protocols my doctor has set out to help me keep this virus from infecting my new cells. I am excited about the newest advances, and there will be much, much more in the news after Sept 4.

I am feeling better, but I have realized that since I didn't get sick in a short amount of time, I won't get well overnight. However, I am doing far better than Dr. Cheney's other patient who received the stem cell treatments on the same days I did.

I look forward to the time when I will be able to see each of you and tell you thank you for your cards, notes of encouragement, and financial assistance for this very special event in my life! I FINALLY feel as if I am truly going to have a chance to participate in life again! Halelluia! Thanks Be To God!

Today's the day.....August 23rd

Today's the day......August 23rd. The day I've been waiting for. Tonight Seth and Lauren go to meet their teachers. This will shortly be followed by the first day of school. Yeaahhhhh! ! ! I always hated to see my kids go back to school, because that put an end to summer vacations and trips to the beach. This time though, I can't wait.
I can't wait to hear from the teacher why Seth asks 10,000 questions a day. I can't wait for him to practice sitting still for more than 3 minutes a time. I can't wait to hear about what happens the first time Lauren tells the teacher "NO", and puts that hand on her hip and walks away. Yes, WE did teach her to be independent! I am kinda sad though that little Carter will be alone at a school where he doesn't know anyone. All he will need is alot of hugs and he will be fine.

Cameron has already started back to school, but I haven't heard from him. Kenny has started back and he seems to be adjusting....still sitting by himself on the school bus, and walking around the playground by himself at recess. With all these different grand kids, and all their different personalities, I'm thankful that it's the mom's and dad's that have to deal with it all. It was so much easier in "the olden days". You could tell a child to "sit down and shut up, and they did." You could tell the neighbors child to "sit down and shut up, and they did". These days, you are not even allowed to mutter the words "Shut up", but you can sing the lyrics about my humps and bumps. Go figure?

OH well, the school days will soon be upon us. Please keep everyone posted about YOUR kids! And Heavenly Father, please bless all the teachers of our little darlings!

Longs trip to DC

I don't have much to say.  It's late and I need to get sleep.  Here are some pics that we took.  Enjoy and everyone have a great weekend.  :)  Love ya

Look, Meghan can hold up the Lincoln Memorial.

Look, a very RARE family pic.

For those of you that saw Transformers 3, this was the plane that Jetfire was.  We had to drive our to the Air and Space Museum out at Dulles International Airport to see all the planes in the hanger.  There were a lot of planes and it was worth the drive out.  :)

This girl is really crazy!  She dances all around now.  BUT NOOOOOO, I'm not signing her up for dance classes.  :)  She is gonna play soccer.  :)

It's working....No it isn't....Yes it is

This is what I have been going through all day. The internet works, then it doesn't, then it does, then it doesn't. I give up! James worked on it today at lunch, and this afternoon. Daniel and Mandy worked on it from 8:15 until about 10:45. It's working for me, right now, but I don't know if the wireless is working. Daniel changed out Linksys boxes, and it worked, and then it didn't.

So, as far as tomorrow's post maybe I will, maybe I won't. It all depends on what Linksys decides. Maybe I should just go back to snail mail!

Happy Birthday Brooke!

Today is my grand-niece's birthday. She loves animals, so this was the best I could find. Happy Birthday girl. Love you!

Where's Mandy??

So this is the WWII Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial in the back ground.  The other pic was of the Washington Monument.  :)  We took lots of pics and I'll post them this week or they will be on fb.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Sent from my Verizon Wireless Phone

Who is this child?

I found this picture on my laptop. It looks like Christy, but she never had a dress like that. It looks like Catherine, but she has never been to the Croom Drive house.
Would someone please claim this young'un!

Jack and Girl dog

Carter enjoys talking to animals I learned recently. The other day Sherrill, Carter, and Jack were together and Carter asked Jack if he had ant bites. Jack shook his head yes. Since then, I have noticed Jack talking a little more to girl dog. I have noticed Jack also hanging around the computer. I saw this picture and thought it suited Jack and Girl dog!

Puffer Quilt

Know what I am doing today.........sewing of course. Kat saw a picture of a puffer quilt and wanted me to give it a try. So I've been sewing all of these 5X5 inch squares, and filling them with fiberfill stuff. I have 40 done, and about 40 more to do. I stopped long enough last night to sew up little pillows for Lauren, Carter, and Isabella. Meghan has put her order in for one today.

Mandy and the family have gone to Greenville, Sherill is working, and the house is quiet. Life is good!

Happy Birthday Joey

Happy Birthday little brother! Love you.

Daniel is in Town!

Daniel came in Saturday night. The kids are all over him, and keeping him busy. Seth was a little sad yesterday wondering why dad was spending time with mom and not him. (Mandy had Dan in the garage working). I explained to Seth that Dad had mom first, then him, so he would have to wait his turn, and reminded him that he would have 6 hours of time with Dad this week at football practice!

Well, they are all off to the beach today, Sherrill is out of the house, and Jack is outside. Life is BLISS! Don't all MOM's just LOVE quiet time?

Have a great day everyone!
